TechPowerUp @ Computex 2024 Preview: AI Everywhere! Next Gen Platforms and Teasers

I'm ok with AI, but lets make it real AI not some bargain basement over glorified shit script. Loving me some computex @AusWolf there's a monitor coming from ASRock that might be good wheelhouse option (it's a dual mode, BUT they don't mentioned the panel tech yet or if it's matte or glossy...

Toshiba Successfully Demonstrates Nearline HDDs with Massive Capacity of Over 30TB

Seagate are already in this arena with HAMR drives. We definitely need as much competition as we can get to get drive prices going down.

not impressed - nvme vs ssd

My biggest concern here isn't about the hardware the op used, but how many times he's planning on getting married that this problem will amount to a significant amount of time... Also, who takes 4000 wedding photos (The pro I hired had about 800-1000 of which he selected just under 100 for our...

    Windows 10 General Discussion

What motivates our userbase to use 10 over 11 (or vice versa) I should add I feel like 10 might have been a better experience for me but (and I can't recall why not) think I needed 11 for my current build.

AM5 boot times improve RADICALLY with memory context restore enabled

I am now concerned to update my BIOS (mostly because of the beta bios's rolling for the 9000 series chips) I think I need to though (my SSD is still showing as a usb/unpluggable in windows)

    What are you playing?

Just restarted my MAME addiction, once I wrap my brain back around and Amiga emulator and a C64 one I'll be completing my walk back into retro. Feeding them into my streaming feed once they're reliable (MAME seems to like to freeze a lot more on it's current iteration) Side note, my son seems...

    Dream Monitor Ideas

Loving the fact that the cheaper MSI 32" 4k OLED is now cheaper in Australia than it's counterpart (despite the $350 usd delta they were the same price here initially) Now it's cheaper than the alienware here (1759 aud vs 1889 - I was legitimately expecting to have to shell out 2200 later this...

AMD's RDNA 4 GPUs Could Stick with 18 Gbps GDDR6 Memory

Same boat re DLSS/RT. I've said this before but if it isn't 7900XTX'ish performance with better power consumption and for a healthy price I wont be interested. Scarily could even consider moving to team green, which I'd prefer not to do.

AMD's RDNA 4 GPUs Could Stick with 18 Gbps GDDR6 Memory

Yeah I think they managed the speed and mileage by pushing it out the back of a C-130 @ 10000 feet. You're not wrong about it being niche, of the people I've helped build systems for in the last 12 months, I've had to explain ray tracing to them in about 2/3 of the cases. I really want to know...

LG Display to Mass Produce World's First Gaming OLED Panel With Switchable Refresh Rate and Resolution

True, but, I'd rather have a monitor that can do it and not need to upgrade for that later on. My video card is 3 and a bit years old now and there's a reasonable chance I'll upgrade it in the next gen. The reason here is it's the same price as every other QD-OLED in my market (except for the...

ASRock AM5 Motherboards Ready to Support Next Generation AMD Ryzen Series Processors

Actually ASRock recommends "3. If the system is working properly, we recommend keeping the current BIOS / firmware." For the B650E Taichi Lite it's still a Beta, so I'm going to wait until a final at least.

LG Display to Mass Produce World's First Gaming OLED Panel With Switchable Refresh Rate and Resolution

These screens are likely to be at the top of the 32" 4k 240hz OLED squad. I think $1400 USD+ (so about 3 koalas or both kidneys in Australia) I quietly hoped the ASUS one would be cheaper but I'm certain I am kidding myself. Keep in mind it's WOLED not QDOLED so you're getting a matte finish...

Top AMD RDNA4 Part Could Offer RX 7900 XTX Performance at Half its Price and Lower Power

I think you're right there. As a 6800XT owner a middling uplift for the flagship needs to have solid markers for me to want to move. I know it's likely to be a pipe dream (simply because nvidia might decide not to raise the bar) But I want 7900XTX raster, 4080 super RTX (or at least a decent...

Top AMD RDNA4 Part Could Offer RX 7900 XTX Performance at Half its Price and Lower Power

Struggling to find value in the product stack, barely moving forward in 2 generations (to the point of actually going backwards potentially.) They'll need to crush the price to performance and make it markedly more efficient to even tempt consumers I think.
