AMD Shuffles Feature-sets of its 800-series Chipset, X870 is B650E Successor

Assuming the HDMI 2.1 marketing is correct... https://www.hdmi.org/spec/hdmi2_1 https://www.hdmi.org/spec21sub/eightk60_fourk120 HDMI 2.1 uses a new "FRL" signal scheme, *but* maintains compatibility with TMDS. So... Their use of terms is both oddly specific and sorely lacking, leaving it...

AMD Shuffles Feature-sets of its 800-series Chipset, X870 is B650E Successor

Ya know... since the link to Promontory 21 and ASM4242 are both PCIe Gen4x4 and AMD *just* released new XT AM4 CPUs... I think I'd eat my hat if there were any AM4 PROM21 (X840/X640/B845/(E)/?) boards planned, though. ASrock used to do cool stuff like that, TBF...

    SSD cooling advice

Doing a lil leap of logic in assuming similarity between sn550 and sn770, but... https://superuser.com/questions/1754770/what-are-the-3-temperatures-composite-and-sensors-reported-by-a-wd-black-sn770 tl;dr: -Temperature (0) is most important to pay attention to -the breakdown is likely

    SSD cooling advice

I just put a 2TB 990Pro into a Dell Latitude 5411 with its dinky "Thermal Support Bracket". However, I took the time to do a little research on safe temperatures. (It runs a similar mid-high 60s under load) -68c under full load is 'fine'. AFAIK, >70c is typ. where you should start to worry. If...

AMD Expected to Announce Ryzen 5000XT CPUs at Computex

This. 100 times over, this. I went from a 5600 to a 5800X3D while still on a Vega 10 16GB card. My 1% lows improved w/ the X3D chip. Also IIRC, the X3Ds will often have better 0.1% and 1% lows, even when beat overall in averages and peaks. I've not seen any testing done yet, but I suspect X3D...

AMD Expected to Announce Ryzen 5000XT CPUs at Computex

Whether it was meant to leave room for another SKU or not, it's giving me false hope for a 5950XT3D

[WTB][US] TB3 eGPU (Commercial Enclosure, or DIY Kit)

'Just picked up an older i5-10400H (lol, 14nm++++) Latitude 5411 laptop w/ TB3 for $125ish (after some very informative feedback in my completely unrealistic laptop research thread). I've already slapped a spare/on-hand 2TB 990pro in, and have a wide-band(s) LTE WWAN card (<$20) + matching 16GB...

UGREEN Launches its 300W 48000mAh Portable Charger for On-the-Go Lifestyles

Rich? I always assumed products like these were for people in deep consumer credit card debt

AMD Expected to Announce Ryzen 5000XT CPUs at Computex

Eeeyup. I'm well-aware. I'd been hoping AMD'd release the 5900X3D and 5950X3D when they were announcing more AM4 X3D CPUs.

AMD Expected to Announce Ryzen 5000XT CPUs at Computex

I wouldn't care that IPC would be 'behind'. I wouldn't care it'd be an inferno to cool. I'd go gaga for a 5950X3D. (-and I already "final upgrade'd" to a 5800X3D)

UGREEN Launches its 300W 48000mAh Portable Charger for On-the-Go Lifestyles

LiFePo4 (as this unit advertises) is lower nominal cell voltage than most other common Lithium chemistries in consumer products. 3.2V is Nominal, 3.5-3.6V typ. 'peak charge state'. Thing is... using 3.2V x 48Ah, doesn't line up whatsoever with the advertised usable device-charging capacity...

UGREEN Launches its 300W 48000mAh Portable Charger for On-the-Go Lifestyles

Kinda moot point, from that PoV. IIRC from trying to find the MBA M2 15"'s batt capacity, the battery life on one charge is more than enough for most-all flights. 12-14 hours. 'Was thinking more for those w/ multiple devices. Like, a portable workstation, etc. trying to get some work/play done...

AMD Expected to Announce Ryzen 5000XT CPUs at Computex

Hardly a dead body. https://www.amd.com/en/products/embedded/ryzen/ryzen-5000-series.html Embedded platforms are 5-10+ year support/sales. Beyond the industrial/embed side, AM4 compares favorably with the used market options. NtM, AMD's CPU marketshare is doing great, and there's no reason...

AMD Zen 5 Chiplet Built on 4 nm, "Granite Ridge" First Model Numbers Leaked

Personally, I see this as AMD's Skylake. It's 'ground-up' (but, it's really not). Let's just hope AMD doesn't get stuck on a single node for 4+ generations, too.

AMD Expected to Announce Ryzen 5000XT CPUs at Computex

Not necessarily. Even if not entirely true today, the platform cost for AM5 and DDR5 may seem excessive. Personally, I wouldn't upgrade an AM4 build with anything not X3D-enabled, even for non-gaming (historically, larger-cache'd CPUs stay useful/relevant for longer) Not to mention, a simple...
