ASUS Unveils SFF-Ready Prime Series GeForce RTX 40-series Graphics Cards

ASUS launched the Prime Series of GeForce RTX 40-series "Ada" graphics cards that meet NVIDIA's new SFF-Ready specification that sets 304 mm x 151 mm x 50 mm (length x height x thickness) as the maximum dimensions for a graphics card to qualify. What's interesting, is that NVIDIA intended for the SFF-Ready standard to apply to performance-segment and enthusiast-class GPUs (RTX 4070 SUPER and up), however, ASUS has designed the Prime series for the RTX 4060 Ti, RTX 4070, and RTX 4070 SUPER; there are no cards in the series based on the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER or the RTX 4080 SUPER, yet.

ASUS is using a common board design for its RTX 4070 SUPER, RTX 4070, and RTX 4060 Ti Prime series graphics cards, which measures 269 mm x 120 mm x 50 mm, while the heatsink and PCB underneath the cooler shroud may vary between the RTX 4070/SUPER and the RTX 4060 Ti cards. The cooler uses a trio of 70 mm fans to ventilate an aluminium fin-stack heatsink, much of the airflow from the third fan goes through the heatsink and back out from a large cutout in the backplate. The RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 Ti cards use single 8-pin PCIe power inputs, while the RTX 4070 SUPER uses a 16-pin 12VHPWR input. There are a total of six SKUs, two per GPU, one of which sticks to the NVIDIA reference clock speeds, and the other being an OC SKU with a minor factory overclock.

Palit Intros GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER GameRock OmniBlack Graphics Card

Palit today introduced the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER GameRock OmniBlack graphics card. The GameRock OmniBlack is a variant of the GameRock custom design that does away with all illumination. The acrylic embellishment that's supposed to resemble ice or frost on the cooler shroud, remains, it's not illuminated from behind. The three 80 mm GaleHunter fans are now black and opaque, unlike on the original GameRock board, where they were frosted acrylic, and illuminated. The card features the same heavy aluminium fin-stack heatsink you'd find on the company's RTX 4080 GameRock series. The cooler makes the card 3.5-slot thick (71.5 mm thick), almost 33 cm long, and 13.7 cm tall.

Palit has increased the power limit of the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER to 295 W, up from its reference 285 W, although interestingly, the card sticks to NVIDIA reference clock speeds of 2340 MHz base, and 2610 MHz boost, with its memory running at 21 Gbps. The card offers dual-BIOS, however, both BIOSes run the card at the same speeds, with the "silent" BIOS having a quieter fan profile. Based on the same 5 nm "AD103" silicon as the RTX 4080 and RTX 4080 SUPER, the new RTX 4070 Ti SUPER is equipped with 8,448 CUDA cores, 264 Tensor cores, 66 RT cores, 264 TMUs, and 96 ROPs. Palit did not reveal pricing for the GameRock OmniBlack.

Stability AI Outs Stable Diffusion 3 Medium, Company's Most Advanced Image Generation Model

Running on two billion dense parameters, the SD3 Medium is the company's most advanced text-to-image model to date. NVIDIA MLPerf Training Results Showcase Unprecedented Performance and Elasticity

The full-stack NVIDIA accelerated computing platform has once again demonstrated exceptional performance in the latest MLPerf Training v4.0 benchmarks. NVIDIA more than tripled the performance on the large language model (LLM) benchmark, based on GPT-3 175B, compared to the record-setting NVIDIA submission made last year. Possible Specs of NVIDIA GeForce "Blackwell" GPU Lineup Leaked

Possible specifications of the various NVIDIA GeForce "Blackwell" gaming GPUs were leaked to the web by Kopite7kimi, a reliable source with NVIDIA leaks. These are specs of the maxed out silicon, NVIDIA will carve out several GeForce RTX 50-series SKUs based on these chips, which could end up with lower shader counts than those shown here. We've known from older reports that there will be five chips in all, the GB202 being the largest, followed by the GB203, the GB205, the GB206, and the GB207. There is a notable absence of a successor to the AD104, GA104, and TU104, because NVIDIA is trying a slightly different way to approach the performance segment with this generation.

The GB202 is the halo segment chip that will drive the possible RTX 5090 (RTX 4090 successor). This chip is endowed with 192 streaming multiprocessors (SM), or 96 texture processing clusters (TPCs). These 96 TPCs are spread across 12 graphics processing clusters (GPCs), which each have 8 of them. Assuming that "Blackwell" has the same 256 CUDA cores per TPC that the past several generations of NVIDIA gaming GPUs have had, we end up with a total CUDA core count of 24,576. Another interesting aspect about this mega-chip is memory. The GPU implements the next-generation GDDR7 memory, and uses a mammoth 512-bit memory bus. Assuming the 28 Gbps memory speed that was being rumored for NVIDIA's "Blackwell" generation, this chip has 1,792 GB/s of memory bandwidth on tap!

AVerMedia Shows New Premium Go Series Capture Dock for Handhelds, GaN Charger and More at Computex 2024

While it was keen to show off its earlier released Live Gamer ULTRA 2.1 (GC553G2) USB and Live Gamer 4K 2.1 (GC575) PCIe HDMI 2.1 capture cards which have recently got a big firmware update, giving them 4K144 capture, support for 5.1 multi-channel audio, and support for Windows 11 Dynamic Lighting, AVerMedia had a lot of other new things to show at the Computex 2024 show, including the new Premium Go Series, which includes the world's first Capture Dock, the X'tra Go GC515, the Elite Go GC313Pro and Core Go GC313 GaN charger and capture device, new AVerMedia Streaming Center software, and a couple of NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX-based Box PCs for edge AI.

As said, the new AVerMedia Premium Go Series kicks off with the X'tra Go GC515, which is the world's first Capture Dock for various handheld devices. The Xtra Go GC515 does exactly what you think it does, and that is record 4K30 or 1080p120 footage from a handheld gaming device with just a simple click and without a computer. It is compatible with popular models like Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, ROG Ally, and probably most other handheld consoles. Of course, since it does not require a PC, it records everything on a microSD card. Palit Computex 2024: Neptunus, Beyond Limits, Master, LYNK Project, SFF-Ready

Palit sprung an unexpected surprise at the 2024 Computex. Normally, graphics card partners announce their new custom-design brands alongside new GPU generation launches. Palit took a different path, it rehashed its usual GameRock, JetStream, and Dual OC brands with the RTX 40-series "Ada," back in 2022, but showcased all new custom graphics card designs at Computex 2024, with an expected 5-6 months left for NVIDIA's next-gen GeForce "Blackwell" to hit the scene. The RTX 4090 Neptunus is a variation of the GameRock OC, except it is an air+liquid hybrid cooling solution. The card doesn't include a liquid cooling loop, and out of the box, the air-cooling performance of this card should resemble that of the GameRock, but it has a liquid cooling channel, you use your own G 1/4" fittings, and connect the card to a DIY loop for a transformative upgrade in cooling performance.

Next up, is the RTX 4080 SUPER Beyond Limits. This is Palit being flamboyant with its design, similar to the ASUS ROG Strix or the MSI Gaming X. The card features a very capable 3.5-slot air cooling design with high static-pressure fans, but the star attraction is a large acrylic RGB LED diffuser that runs along the length of the card, which has the Beyond Limits logo, and an infinite-reflection mirror. There is a variant of this card called the Beyond Limits Crystal, which has an "infinity reflection pyramid." The screaming "Beyond Limits" lettering makes way for some abstract shapes.

First NVIDIA RTX 5090 Performance View? Micron Knows Better

Micron is getting ready to set sail with the new GDDR7 memory, and being NVIDIA's long-term partner, both are gaining big with the GeForce RTX 4000 Series. A few days ago, Micron announced its imminent launch of GDDR7 memory, remember that in March JEDEC published the GDDR7 memory standard. The interesting part is that an even more important piece of information was provided in one of Micron's slide-deck, the one that shows GDDR7 gaming performance. Officially Micron says that GDDR7 can be 3.1x faster than GDDR6 and 1.5x faster than GDDR6X. However, the slide in question provides some normalized FPS performance for ray tracing, and rasterization under game testing conditions. Until now, everything is clear, what comes next is our speculation and assumptions, based on previous knowledge so please, take it with a grain of salt. Will it be a hard guess, looking over those graphs, to tell that NVIDIA's RTX 5090 offers up to a 42% improvement over the RTX 4090 in rasterization, and up to 48% in ray tracing?

NVIDIA is getting closer to releasing its next-gen GPU with the RTX 5090 graphics card. Micron is in a strong partnership with NVIDIA and it's expected that its next gen graphics cards will use Micron GDDR7 memory. Now, we know that, at least for Ray Tracing, one real-world benchmark is Cyberpunk 2077, and it could be also the case here, from the graphs it looks very much like Ray Tracing was tested with Path Tracing. For Rasterization performance another hard guess is that perhaps it's either Starfield or Assassin's Creed Mirage. Presumably, tests were made using also AMD RX 7900XTX, and NVIDIA RTX 4090 to get GDDR6 reference. Time will tell if we made the right prediction.

ASRock Rack Unveils GPU Servers, Offers AI GPU Choices from All Three Brands

ASRock Rack sells the entire stack of servers a data-center could possibly want, and at Computex 2024, the company showed us their servers meant for AI GPUs. The 6U8M-GENOA2, as its name suggests, is a 6U server based on 2P AMD EPYC 9004 series "Genoa" processors in the SP5 package. You can configure it with even the variants of "Genoa" that come with 3D V-cache, for superior compute performance from the large cache. Each of the two SP5 sockets is wired to 12 DDR5 RDIMM slots, for a total of 24 memory channels. The server supports eight AMD Instinct MI300X or MI325X AI GPUs, which it wires out using Infinity Fabric links and PCIe Gen 5 x16 individually. A 3 kW 80 Plus Titanium PSU keeps the server fed. There are vacant Gen 5 x16 slots left even after connecting the GPUs, so you could give it a DPU-based 40 GbE NIC.

The 6U8X-EGS2 B100 is a 6U AI GPU server modeled along the 6U8M-GENOA2, with a couple of big changes. To begin with, the EPYC "Genoa" chips make way for a 2P Intel Xeon Socket E (LGA4677) CPU setup, for 2P Xeon 5 "Emerald Rapids" processors. Each socket is wired to 16 DDR5 DIMM slots (the processor itself has 8-channel DDR5, but this is a 2 DIMM-per-channel setup). The server integrates an NVIDIA NVSwitch that wires out NVLinks to eight NVIDIA B100 "Blackwell" AI GPUs. The server features eight HHHL PCIe Gen 5 x16, and five FHHL PCIe Gen 5 x16 connectors. There are vacant x16 slots for your DPU/NIC, you can even use an AIC NVIDIA BlueField card. The same 3 kW PSU as the "Genoa" system is also featured here.

TSMC Thinking to Raise Prices, NVIDIA's Jensen Fully Supports the Idea

NVIDIA's CEO Jensen Huang said on June 5th that TSMC's stock price is too low, and he agrees with new TSMC chairman C. C. Wei's idea about TSMC's value. Jensen promised to support TSMC in charging more for their wafers and a type of packaging called CoWoS. An article from TrendForce says that NVIDIA and TSMC will talk about chip prices for next year, which could help TSMC make more money. Jensen also said he's not too worried about problems between countries because Taiwan has a strong supply chain; TSMC is doing more than just making chips, they're handling many supply chain issues too.

Last year, many companies were waiting for TSMC's products, ever-increasing demand and production issues causing delays. Even though things got a bit better this year, there's still not enough supply. TSMC says that even making three times more 3-nanometer chips isn't enough, so they need to make even more. NVIDIA's profits are very high, much higher than other companies like AMD and even TSMC. If TSMC raises prices for these advanced processes, it won't hurt NVIDIA's profits much, but it might lower profits for other companies like Apple, AMD, and Qualcomm. It will also have an impact on end-users.

MSI Integrates AIO Liquid Cooler on Its New SUPRIM FUZION and EXPERT FUZION Graphics Cards at Computex 2024

MSI unveiled some rather interesting new graphics card series at the Computex 2024 show, and while hybrid liquid and air cooled graphics cards are not really new, we rarely see the whole AIO liquid cooler integrated on the graphics card itself, which is what MSI is doing now with the SUPRIM FUZION and EXPERT FUZION graphics cards. While MSI was quite keen to announce these as "the world's first graphics card with an all-in-one cooler design", ASUS did the same thing before with its ROG MATRIX RTX 2080 TI back in 2019, and now MSI is pushing a similar design with GeForce RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 SUPER graphics cards.

Nevertheless, the new MSI SUPRIM FUZION RTX 4090, which already won the Computex 2024 Best Choice award and was already leaked a few days ago, is based on the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 and comes with "patented liquid system enclosed within the graphics card". The MSI SUPRIM FUZION RTX 4090 will feature a triple-slot design with two fans, most likely one to cool down the AIO radiator, and the other to keep other components well cooled.

A Visit to PNY at Computex: NVIDIA's Jensen Really Loved This Card and Signed it

We visited the PNY booth at the 2024 Computex and found something interesting, an air-cooled GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER graphics card, and a pre-built, which was custom-made by PNY for their booth. Jensen Huang of NVIDIA visited this booth, and signed the card. It's now quite the attraction. It's a simple lateral blower card that's meant to be bought in numbers, and crammed into workstation cases, where the lateral blower design allows neighboring cards to breathe better. Typically, such cards tend to have boring, unremarkable black designs, with plastic cooler shrouds, but PNY managed to make their card stand out with a die-cast metal shroud finished in NVIDIA's favorite shade of green. As of now, this card isn't a real product, but we've been told that the company is considering a small production run, without Jensen's signature, of course.

In the last month alone, Capes, Die By The Blade, EA SPORTS F1 24, Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut, Gray Zone Warfare, Homeworld 3, INDIKA, MotoGP 24, Senua's Saga: Hellblade II, Serum, Ships At Sea, Ships That Fight Underground, and Wuthering Waves have all launched with support for DLSS, and Star Citizen introduced support for DLSS 2.

ASUS Updates Zenbook and ProArt Laptop Series with AMD Ryzen AI 9 and Snapdragon X Elite Processors

At Computex 2024, ASUS unveiled major updates to its popular laptop lineups, designed for the "Copilot+" era of AI computing. The first is the Zenbook S16 is a premium 16-inch laptop series powered by AMD's latest Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processors with dedicated AI acceleration. Remarkably, ASUS has managed to pack this high-performance silicon into an ultra-portable 1.1 cm thin chassis weighing just 1.5 kg. The Zenbook S16 integrates AMD's new NPU capable of a 50 TOPS of AI compute for accelerating AI/ML workloads. The centerpiece is the laptop's stunning 16-inch 3K OLED display made with ASUS Lumina technology. It offers 100% vibrant DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, a blazing-fast 120 Hz refresh rate with 0.2 ms response time, and up to 600 nits brightness. ASUS paired this premium visual experience with a six-speaker audio system for an immersive multimedia experience.

NVIDIA Project G-Assist Hands On and Under the Hood

On Sunday, NVIDIA announced Project G-Assist, the AI chatbot for gamers that can be pulled up in the middle of the gameplay, and sought help from. You could just pause your game and Google for help, but G-Assist can be activated in game, and is situationally aware of your game (e.g.: it knows where you're stuck and how to help you out). It won't play the game for you, but give you actionable info on how to play, or improve. For example, you could ask it how to craft a particular weapon, and where to find the items needed in game, and get concise guidance. G-Assist also knows about your graphics card, framerates and other telemetry data.

We went hands-on with G-Assist, and found that it's very capable of doing the things NVIDIA claims it can, short of playing the game for you. They are showing a demo of ARK Survival, but the impressive part is that there's no integration of G-Assist in Ark—rather is runs as an injected overlay that can capture user input. This means that G-Assist can work in ANY game, even without official support. We also learned how G-Assist works under-the-hood, particularly how the chatbot is situationally aware of your game, and it's fascinating.

A Quick Look at NVIDIA SFF-Ready Graphics Cards and Cases

At NVIDIA's Computex 2024 booth, we got a quick look at the enthusiast-segment GeForce RTX 40-series graphics cards and third-party PC cases that qualify for the company's new SFF-Ready market, which aims to incentivize building smaller enthusiast-segment graphics cards for the SFF crowd, and to try and arrest the runaway growth in the sizes of custom-design graphics cards. To qualify, a graphics card must be no larger than 304 mm x 151 mm x 50 mm (length x height x thickness), and for an SFF case to support such a card. Most of these cards and cases are already launched, and we're sure the standard will have some influence on the graphics card partners and case designers as NVIDIA heads towards its future GeForce RTX "Blackwell" generation.

GIGABYTE Joins COMPUTEX to Unveil Energy Efficiency and AI Acceleration Solutions

Giga Computing, a subsidiary of GIGABYTE and an industry leader in AI servers and green computing, today announced its participation in COMPUTEX and unveiling of solutions tackling complex AI workloads at scale, as well as advanced cooling infrastructure that will lead to greater energy efficiency. NVIDIA Announces Project G-Assist: An AI Chatbot that's Situationally Aware of Your Game

Imagine you're playing a game, you're stuck somewhere, don't know how to craft something, can't manage your inventory, or need to get out of some tricky puzzle. You normally pause and minimize your game, pull up a web-browser, and sift through dozens of search results to find the right Wiki or community thread that solves your problem. Wouldn't it be great, if you could pull up an in-game chat window and interact with an AI chat assistant (not unlike ChatGPT), except, the assistant is situationally aware of your entire game-state? That is NVIDIA Project G-Assist.

NVIDIA is training an AI on the vast ocean of information from the Internet on the countless games there are. You will soon be able to pull up an AI chat assistant, and will be able to either give it a text or natural voice input on how you want it to help you in the situation of the game you're in, and it will be able to guide you. G-Assist will not play the game for you, just give you precise and concise answers based on your game state (something no Google search or game wiki can). Besides assisting your gameplay, G-Assist will also help you with performance optimization and system tuning, the way the NVIDIA App and GeForce Experience already do.
