Scratches on the processor. How critical is it?

Hi there!
I bought a new OEM processor yesterday. I found scratches on the side of the contacts, if they are at all. I only saw them in the photo. How critical is it?

From the pictures, it doesn't seem to have penetrated any important layers. Best way to find out if it works is to use it and see.

No way of telling unless clear the scratches cut through traces. There are literally billions of transistor gates on the typical processor - some are critical, some do nothing. No way of telling until put to use.

BTW, if really new, there should be no scratches.

Can't really see much, should be fine. It either works or it doesn't, not much else to it.

Perhaps it was during transportation, it was in a regular plastic package. I didn't see any pressure marks on the contact platforms and edges of the processor

If I saw that as a buyer, I may not have even noticed it. it looks like a scuff rather than anything that would pose a risk to operation, but used stuff is often as-is or at least with less of a guarantee/warranty.

Yes, it's really invisible without a photo. I should have brought a magnifying glass with me:peace:

If it goes supercritical, it might irradiate the whole building.
Seriously though, those are scratches on a substrate. They don't seem to penetrate the solder mask so they are inconsequential.
