Scythe expands its portfolio of audio devices. The new 5.25" mountable active speaker is now available in silver (Model Number: SCBS-2000S-S) and black (Model Number: SCBS-2000S-BK). Luxury appearance is provided by the aluminum finished front panel and meshed speaker cover to enhance your PC system. beleive it or not, my dad recently called me up asking what happened to the old 5.25" speaker units you used to be able to get, as he found them useful for office PC's and workstations. i guess i'll need to link him to this

Useless for most people I'd imagine though, I'd rather get normal speakers, or headphones.

This thing is definitely a niche product, and a highly overpriced one at that. You can get a good set of 2.1 speakers for that much money. Granted, they'll take up room on your desk/floor, but they'll sound a lot better, too.

Great for the office and keeping the desk tidy.

I have never heard of these :wtf:, I guess they would good if you were only using the stock speaker on your monitor. But for that price your still better off getting a small 2.1 set.

Most environments that would benefit from this already use monitor-based speakers or do not allow speakers at all. LAN party? Even then, you can get a decent pair of Sennheisers for this price...

i suppose the idea is to chuck them on a shelf or desk, and hook them up to a netbook/laptop cordlessly

nice for pissing people off at a LAN party.... The basic idea, looks/style, lights, volume control are cool. However I wished there was a headphone jack in the front, the lights were switchable colors and a bit better quality speaker..
