The Dutch techsite tweakers.net set a new world record for 3Dmark03. While the old record (180,349) was set using four 4890s the new record uses only three 5870s and a Xeon W3540 clocked at 5231 MHz. The 5870s ran at 1200 MHz with only slightly overclocked memory at 4900 MHz.

The new record is listed on both hwbot and Futuremark ORB.

I dont have any respect for anyone benching with 03, they wont use Vantage or 06 because they know that it puts to much strain on the CPU and will cause there fragile High OC to crash. And any excuse about not owning a copy is pathetic.

I fail to see the use of single threaded benchmarks as well. On the other hand they're benching the videocards, not the CPU's. Besides, those cards will be popping up all over the place so expect records to be broken, including this one.

First of all, try to beat it yourself then. :o Second, try to beat this: Yes, that is a top ten Vantage score with AMD/ATI between only quad Nvidia gpus. :rockout: And there is a lot more headroom in the cards, they just need an ocp mod. :)

well i ran the pacman benchmark and got 850 million.

in that second screenshot, I almost cried. Look at the GPU fan speed / temperatures and shed a tear for that poor Cypress :(
by MarcV (10:33 AM) - Reply
@ Kyle Don't worry, the temps are wrong. Apparently, when cooled below zero, ATI CCC automatically reports temperatures of 127 degrees Celsius. There wasn't even a fan attached to the videocard, so that's incorrect as well :P

I was wondering about that temperature too.

I would like to see you even get 1200mhz stable on the GPU clock of a 5870 just sitting on the desktop. That in itself is amazing, of corase it probably can't run a newer benchmark, but thats a freaking 350mhz GPU oc :twitch:

It can run vantage at that clocks. ;) And there is a lot more in it when you do an ocp mod. But thats up for next time, this was just a start. :D

Very nice, I expect many records to be broken with these new GPUs.

Or it's because (as I've heard) 03 was the last 3dmark which truly tested the GPU's only.

That would be 3d mark 2001, nature scene. That one is really GPU dependant, and not CPU / Memory and other things.

why they still use old 3D mark's version , there is many options missing in 03 like DX10 support
