Cogage is ready with a new massive CPU air-cooler with the Cogage Arrow. The Arrow is a slightly redesigned Thermalright IFX-14. The redesigning done here is for the shape of the aluminum fins, which have pointed edges. Perhaps that's where its name was coined on. The construction involves a CPU contact block from which pass four 8 mm heat-pipes. These heat-pipes pass through two independent aluminum fin blocks. Each of these is capable of holding 120 mm fans on either sides, including space to hold a 140 mm fan in the central gap. The heat-pipes are made of nickel-plated copper. It is expected to reach stores soon, probably priced similar to the IFX-14, which is US $60~$70.

I'm following air cooler reviews for some time and it looks like IFX-14 was one of the best. But now Noctua has a new super cooler (D-14) so I'm curious how this new cogage will do compared with IFX-14 and Noctua D-14

X-Bit Labs has reviewed the Noctua NH-D14. In fact, they compare it directly to the Thermalright IFX-14. (The Noctua wins)
I don't mean to diss this Heat Sink but are they just cutting weird shapes out of metal promising improved heat dissipation or are they just going for more customization options?
I'd say its for the former.
I think this is epic fail, until the benchmarks say another thing. This is exactly the same as ifx-14, so why having the same 2 with different brands? The only thing they could improve is making it with some sort of direct pipe touch like xigmatek ones and they didn't.
DHT isn't always the best way to go in my experience, for example my CPU favours flat solid bases.
What's the full specs of this thing? maybe they managed to make it perform better or weigh less and perform the same.

by: angelkillerI know about this review as I already read it... My main interest is just to see the difference between IFX-14 and this one (as I remember Cogage has its origin from Thermalright) since there is very small difference in weight and fins shape (probably also the dissipation area too).

This is a beautiful heatsink. I think it may perform better because the fins are actually tipped up and down on the edges similar to the Ultra 120. This design makes the airflow from an attached fan circulate inside the fins for a little longer and removing more heat (or such is the theory behind the Ultra 120's bent fin design). The Thermalright IFX-14 doesn't have any bent fins so I would put my money on the Cogage. Couple this updated design with the possibility of a lower final cost (because of competition) and I think we might have a winner.
looks beastly and two 120MM fans and one central 140MM fan. Pretty damn cool. Like to see this with all three fans on high!

maybe the new fin design prevents the turulance off the edges on the ifx?
i cant see it cooling better but maybe it makes less noise with fast spinning fans?
yea the new noctua is marginally better but thats not i big enough improvment for me to switch, this keeps my q9550 about 55c over 4ghz which is cool enough for me so...
