PQI Announces Cool Drive U366 USB 3.0 Flash Drive

Only just a week ago, Power Quotient International Co., Ltd. (PQI) announced two 2.5inch USB3.0 external hard drives, H566 and S533. Today, PQI releases their first USB flash drive device in the form of Cool Drive U366. PQI’s U366 is encased in an all aluminum shell with a clear plastic lid that can perfectly fit on the end tip so users need not worry about loosing the lid.

The new USB3.0 features 5Gbps/sec maximum bandwidth, which is 10 times the maximum bandwidth of USB2.0 as it eliminates the issue of external connection bandwidth being smaller than the output bandwidth of the storage device. This allows portable, ultra fast and high capacity storage device to flood the market as USB3.0 is deemed to take over USB2.0 as the standard for future external connections!

PQI’s Cool Drive U366 is one of the few USB3.0 flash storage devices on the market, and it features a read up to 97MB /sec. The release of U366 reassures PQI’s dedicated advancement in storage technology, research and development capability.

if they want me to not worry about losing the lid, attach it with some kind of bloody cord!

Glad to see that USB 3.0 flash drives retain the same shape and form factor as 2.0 devices.

I really don't see the point of this.

For me, capacity is about 10 times more important than sequential transfer speeds.

You can get a 64GB flash drive off eBay for 30$ and it runs at 3MB/s. I'm glad to have it.

I think it's very huge !!

I want something small so I can have it in my pocket, sure this thing can be inside my pocket but it still huge compared to regular flash drives, these things are small and very usefull !!

@Weer, a 64GB at 3MB/s means almost 6 hours to fill that flash !!!
I know no one will fill that flash, but I just can't use a flash that need's 30 min. just to copy a 6GB file !!
my flash has a 6MB/s speed ( 8GB size ) and I still think it's slow, and I'm using my external 2.5'' HDD for large files...
and BTW, that 8GB/6MBs flash it's just a very tiny cardreader that has a microSD card in it ( Class 6 )... and if there's any faster Class for microSD I'll take it... so for the storage size and physical size and weight, this tiny thing is very good !!

I have a 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and USB Flash drives. The reason I went ahead and bought my 160GB 2.5" External HDD wasn't because of the speed, but because of the capacity. The speed went from around 5-10MB/s on the Flash drives to around 20-30MB/s on the HDD. Then, I find a 64GB Flash drive on eBay for about the same price as an 8GB now adays, so I buy it. It's cheap and I think it will corrupt my files or die on me eventually, but right now, I feel great knowing that if I have to transfer a Blu-ray disk, I can easily do it, even it takes a few hours to do so.

QFTW! will wait for a reputable and durable brand to make a DDR 3 stick before I go and buy one.
