Cooler Master released its new GX line of power supply units. The new series consists of three models: GX-550W, GX-650W, and GX-750W, and are targeted at mid-thru-high end PC builds. The PSUs are not modular, but offer high efficiency (up to 85%), accredited with the 80Plus Silver badge, active PFC, a single +12V rail design, and 100,000 hours of MTBF. The GX-550W, GX-650W and GX-750W come backed by a 5-year warranty, and are priced at 64.90, 74.90 and 89.90 Euro, respectively. They will be available starting next month.

Those are the powersupply that can start a car.

True, but running a cable back to the mains socket would be rather inconvenient!

Great prices for quality PSU's though, if my PCP&C ever gives up the ghost I'd definitely pick one of these up.

I think the car in question would die before that PCP&C dies.

PSUs from other manufacturers can start cars too, it's just that no other manufacturer used this retarded PR stunt.

Technically, a car uses capacitors to pool charge from a DC power source (to start the engine). So there's nothing great a PSU is doing in starting a car, than charging the capacitors.

That's a nice price for silver efficiency. Even if it isn't modular.

while I probably wouldnt use CM anything in a high end system (low to mid maybe) the design of the stamped fan grill looks pretty efficient for a cost cutting measure.

LOL, if I was in charge of Corsair I wouldnt be too worried about anything CM was doing..

Not too sure I'd be willing to give CM over 100 dollars for a PSU, it's one thing to spend $30-$50 USD on a budget PSU, but seeing as how for those prices, proven and tested PSU's are available (Corsair, PC Power Cooling), but it will be interesting to see how they actually preform.

Cooler Master has some awesome and tremendous PSUs in their stable, modular and otherwise. I dont see any problems in them soon (read 1 - 2 years tops) being on the level with Corsair.

I was in on the beta of the 750 unit and except for not being modular it is as good as my Corsair HX620 620W. It was tested against many of the brands you guys refer to so at least initially it measures up. Time will tell if it is a quality unit but it has been power my system 24/7 6 days a week since November without a hicup.

Of course this is all just IMHO.

Oops, because of the "GX" logo looked so similar to Corsairs "TX" that I didn't notice these are actually Cooler Masters... Thats not nice, Corsair lawyers, sharpen your knives!

I dont know if I would use "Awesome/ Tremendous" with CM stuff:laugh: I have some of their water cooling junk still laying around that makes Thermaltake look like it was designed by a superior alien race..

But in the past their stuff has been entry level to mid at best (However in the >$50 range their Centurion 5 Cases were unequaled)
CoolerMaster gave me a 550watt PS to use before and it didnt last very long.

And I think they were responsible for the silly PS on the bottom cases we are seeing all over now (Lian Li did it earlier but I think CM is the one that got all the rest to follow)

They are trying to get better so thats a good thing.
