It is Estimated that Half a Million iPads Could Have Been Sold for Launch Weekend.

Despite reservations about the iPad's lack of flash and multitasking capability from many in the tech community it appears the iPad is and will be immensely popular. Apple reports sales numbers of 300,000 units for Saturday alone, but has not released sales numbers for Sunday. Gene Munster, an Apple analyst for Piper Jaffray, believes sales did not slow significantly for Sunday and possibly 600,000 units were sold over the entire weekend. If this is true it would make sales numbers for the iPad launch significantly higher than the figures for the launch of the iPhone. While there were some reports of stores not having enough iPads most stores had plenty. Apple seems to have provided enough stock to feed the thronging hordes of Apple fans.

Yet again the sheep flock to Apple products. An underpowed device at an overpowered price...

DanishDevilNo offense to anybody who bought one, but good lord. If only we could utilize Apple's brainwashing techniques to end world violence and hunger.
Fanboi just don't realize they have bought a cripple tablet. Then again I have bought something that fail similar in the past... Mylo 2 :) was good for a while until I realize I can't really do anything on the web without "full" flash version. I wish Jobs haven't compare it to any other product because it can't do alot of what ever products he compares to.

I wonder what's so wonderful about this gimmick for ppl to buy them like crazy. I'm getting a feeling that these Apple die hard fans would buy anything that has Apple logo on it. Even if the product is called iTurd.

I'm thinking a multi touch drafting table where the entire surface is the screen. I bet that would sell like hot cakes. And because there would be so much screen surface (IPS screen too) Apple could charge the crap out of people.

I'm trademarking this or whatever so we don't get screwed out of the idea.

I know we're all bashing on Apple products... but don't you think Apple is the future? I mean, compare 'future' devices and gadgets from old sci-fi movies... it seems to me as if Apple is taking us closer and closer to that era.

You're only noticing that future items are portrayed as sleek and clinical looking most times (metal accents, etc). Apple really hasn't invented anything to bring us any closer to technology as seen on TV, they've really only recently been making it more pretty (thus more futuristic in this sense). Oh, and supposed 100% stability.

Sadly, this kinda makes sense. Windows 7 for smarties will be more like iPhone than earlier versions.

It is a bit muddy though.. Google is huge and have a quite different approach to software. Time will tell.

I do agree with the fellow that wanted the bashing to stop. It's just silly. Apple products are worth the premium price, if you're interested in those things. For people like me, who thinks this is a minor vision of heaven they're not worth it though. Style has nothing to do with my person. :pimp:

Well I had always been fairly "Anti-Apple" for years to the point I wouldn't even put Quicktime on my PC's. I finally broke down and bought an iPhone a year ago, at the time it was the phone that had what I wanted. A year later I love my iPhone, even think iTunes is a pretty great program.

But this iPad thing just doesn't have any interest to me at all. I just don't see any real practical usage for it over a laptop or netbook.

Two things: Comics and ebooks. Especially comics. If I had the money, I'd get one just for the comics. :D

I will only say two things.

1. I put this in the group with Google Wave. I am not sure what it is suppose to be or why the hell would I need it. So I will just assume this is some niche market I am not apart of.

2. You missed a "0" at the end of 300,000.

I absolutely hate the ipad. It is a useless piece of tech that will get bought buy the mass's of stupid people. A net book can do more than an overpriced ipad.

I'm not going to buy one and I don't see a reason to care about the masses of people buying these. So I guess I don't care.

I feel that apple is ripping people off and that angers me. I can see no point in the product other than to gouge people for money.

AT&T gauges people for money with their iPhone plans, that meets the title of "Gauging people". Apple selling a tablet device that functions very well for $499, is NOT gauging, thats a more than fair price.

erockerAt first I was "meh." Then I saw this (which started as an April Fools joke):

i403.photobucket.com/albums/pp112/erocker414/icade_main_zoom.jpg

That changes my mind a bit, especially since they might actually make them. Still prices will have to come down, and things such as multi tasking need to be worked out. Anyways, I expect many, many copies of this thing from other manufacturers.
Ok I always wanted one of those mini arcade consoles when I was a kid. If they make something like that pic then I'm sold. Yes I have a small mind.

Yes, and no. Their iphone is kinda revolutionize how UI of a phone should be and other manufacturer took notice of it. Oversize is oversize, it's still a gian't ipod/iphone touch (it's not, according to fanboy). If it weren't for the apps they can call it a iFail. Maybe the next 10yrs Apple will make up it's mind and put flash along with browser of choice ehh? Meanwhile, the HP Slate will do more for the tech savvy people.

Yea, I have too much time on my hand. It start at $299/bag
