Creative Labs Announces Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Series Gaming Headsets

Creative today announced a new line of gaming headsets that create a completely 360-degree, 3D audio experience, surpassing even 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound headsets. The new gaming headsets, called the Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Alpha and Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Sigma, are the first Sound Blaster headsets to feature a unique 360-degree audio system, which is also fully customizable. Using THX TruStudio technology created by sound engineers at Creative Labs in conjunction with THX, the Tactic 3D headsets can create audio above, below and all around the wearer.

Wearers can completely customize their audio experience through the software included with the headsets. The headsets will also ship with pre-made audio profiles created by professional gamers such as Johnathan 'Fatal1ty' Wendel, as well as members from international professional gaming teams compLexity and Dignitas.
In addition, the Tactic 3D headsets feature a number of other proprietary THX TruStudio technologies to further enhance gaming audio:
  • THX TruStudio Pro Crystalizer is real-time audio restoration technology that enhances in-game sound by restoring low and high end frequency curves lost to compression. In other words, it refines audio and allows you to hear sounds you might otherwise might not have heard because of audio compression.
  • THX TruStudio Pro Smart Volume continuously measures the volume of in-game audio and intelligently applies gain and attenuation to compensate for changes-or In other words, it keeps the volume levels from spiking.
  • THX TruStudio Pro Dialog Plus enhances voices during in-game communication for clearer dialog and makes it easier to hear dialog over other sounds and ambient noises.
  • THX TruStudio Pro Bass allows you to customize bass levels without compromising audio quality.
All of the features in the THX TruStudio Pro software suite are completely customizable and can be saved with the TacticProfile feature, so you won't have to modify settings every time you play.

Pricing and Availability
The Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Sigma will retail for US $89.99 and the Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Alpha will retail for US $59.99. Both headsets will be available in September.

Hmmm...it's kinda cheap.

I was thinking about getting the Sennhieser PC 350 or the 360.

I guess I'll wait for this headset reviews, I've a feeling that it's just good on paper, like the Logitech 7.1 headset.

Bah...
"We will give you stereo (virtual surround) headphones that will outperform true surround headphones!"
It's the same as saying "Our Zonda in GRID can beat your Zonda in RL!"
I'd have to hear it to believe that these or any virtual surround headphones can beat the Roccat KAVE 5.1 true surround headphones.:nutkick:
I don't believe that virtual can beat reality (unless the latter is trash of course).:shadedshu

I was planning to get the Sennheiser PC 360 G4ME headset ($220), but now I'll wait for the Creative 3D Sigma headset to be reviewed and make up my mind. Already the Logitech G930 ($160) had me thinking, and now this headset from Creative at this excellent price level ($90)!

These looks nice, but Creative has let me down quite a bit in the last few years. I have started staying away from their products.

There are no good surround headphones, that's why. Well, Creative isn't exactly a great headphone maker either so....

Dolby Headphone FTW!

And you will trash all lame "gaming" headphones after trying a pair of good stereo headphones, like the Beyerdynamics DT-990 I'm wearing.
