Kingston Announces New DataTraveler R500 USB Flash Drive

Like really, why isn't this USB 3.0?
Who's going to buy a premium USB drive today if it doesn't offer USB 3.0 connectivity?
It makes no sense at all, as you could have these speeds or better in at USB 2.0 level and even faster at USB 3.0.

Not USB 3.0 = not interested.

Time to stop making new 2.0 drives already, and just stick with the models they already have, and concentrate on giving us a full line of USB 3.0 drives.

Every time i see these new releases i think the same things and i don't even have usb 3 ports yet.
I intend to get it on my next motherboard but from the reviews i have seen on usb 3 storage they do better than usb 2 when in a usb 2 port thus making anything other than new usb 3 devices kind of pointless now.

You are exactly correct. I do not have USB 3.0 on my computer, but my USB 3.0 thumb drive is still leagues faster than my 2.0 drives.

I'm glad I'm right on that point :laugh: it's the main reason why i have been keeping an eye out on new storage options as i thought it would be nice to get a little speed boost before i move on to usb 3 ports as right now transferring more than a couple hundred mb is a pain in the butt just due to the time taken each way.

I don't get it what are you keep complaining about the lack of USB 3.0 support. 90% of you, including me don't have USB3.0 adaptors installed in your PC. I don't even have an empty PCI-EX slot free.....:banghead:

One of the main things is the ability to get a massive transfer speed boost with a new motherboard and hopefully within months :p

many of us do have USB3.0 actually, and the other part is this:


USB 2.0 devices are faster on USB 3.0 ports, and USB 3.0 devices are faster on USB 2.0 ports.


yeah you read that right - no matter how you mix and match, if either end is USB 3.0, shit goes a lot faster.

I don't have USB 3.0 connectors in my PC, but yesterday I saw USB 3.0 controller from MSI in local Computer store. I would be happy if there were any USB 3.0 thumb drives avaliable, but yet there are only USB 2:cry:

I don't know of any Latvian retailers or online stores but there are multiple usb 3 thumb drives available in other country's so i would hope they would be available online already or in a store near you soon.

Because USB 3.0 drives are faster, even in USB 2.0 slots.
