Buffalo Intros Trio of Security-Enhanced USB Drives

Buffalo Technology released a trio of USB 2.0 flash drives that are an evolution of the RUF2-JVS series released last year. The series starts with RUF2-HSCLT, which gives you 256-bit AES data encryption. Next up, is the RUF2-HSCLTV, which gives you 256-bit AES data encryption, plus Trend Micro antivirus protection (update subscription) for one year. Lastly, there's the RUF2-HSCLTV3, which gives you encryption, plus Trend Micro with three years subscription. All three drives are available in capacities of 2, 4, 8, 16, and 32 gigabytes, and depending on the model, the price ranges between US $76.6 and $360.

From $76 ??? for 2gb, wth are they doing still making these useless small capacity drives anyway, utterly useless imo :ohwell:

2 GB is more than enough for some PDF's, a password database, and some documents, and 76 dollars is a small price for business's and consumers to have the information at hand, and the sense of security to know they can loose the drive, and not risk exposure of the information. Nothing is truly secure, but when it can take 10,000 years to unlock data that's a pretty strong countermeasure to physical data theft.

Be that as it may, it's still overpriced, and the fact that the 32Gb offers nothing aside the extra capacity and some AV for an extra $290 it's a bit of a rip off.
