Try not to mistake this for a low-profile CPU cooler, Alpenföhn's latest offering is the Heidi 2 universal graphics card cooler. First pictured at this year's CeBIT event, the Heidi 2 looks more polished and ready to market. Its main heatsink consists of an aluminum fin array to which heat is conveyed by four 6 mm thick nickel-plated copper heat pipes. The 50-odd aluminum fins make for distinct shapes at the edge of the fin array, which improve heat dissipation. The heat pipes converge at a nickel-plated copper base.

The main heatsink measures 144 x 133 x 62 mm, weighing 450 g. Ventilation is care of a 120 mm Alpenföhn WingBoost fan. A large number of GPUs are supported, including AMD/ATI Radeon HD 6850, HD 6870, HD 5870, HD 5850, HD 5770, HD 5750, HD 5670, HD 4870, HD 4860, HD 4850, HD 4830, HD 4750, HD 4670, HD 4650, HD 3870, HD 3850, HD 3690, HD 3650, HD 3450, HD 2600, X1900; and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460, GTX 200 series, GTX 250, GT 240, GT 220, GT 210, 9800 GTX+/GTX/GT, 9600 GT, 8800 GT/ GTS(G92), 8600, 8500, 8400, 7900 GTX/GT/GS, 7800 GTX/GT, 7600, 7400, 7300, 6600. The company did not give out pricing information.

It only supports cards lower/older than an HD 6850. How is that "universal"?

it will fit most/all cards, just wont cool anything more than a 6850 effectively :slap:

The hills are alive with the sound of coolers? Heidi, really? Does the cooler come with Lederhosen too?

AFAIK, EKL (that is the mother company) decided that their products being sold under the name "Alpenföhn" (lit. "Alpine wind") should refer to the Alps or mountains in general. Hence names like "Matterhorn" (CPU cooler, named after the equally named mountain), "Schneekannone" (lit. "Snow cannon", thermal grease) and "Heidi". So it's a bit like Scythe is doing with their references to samurai (Musashi), Asian weapons (Shuriken) and Japanese Shinto gods (Susano'o). The "Heidi Zwei" cooler pictured in the OP looks pretty, though I wonder why they changed the light blue of the fan into black (which is so standard/plain/whatchammacallit).

I get a naming scheme, but I would prefer cool geographical names over peoples names, I mean are they out of cool names already and Hans is the next on on the board?

Looks like OEM is deep-cool. They make epic looking effective coolers, but not great ones. Cept with their tower heat-sinks, some of the best I've used. Just haven't got GPU coolers down yet. http://www.deepcool-us.com/Product/V400/ Design has changed somewhat, but they produce the fans and lots of their other heat-sinks so it's highly likely.

I hope to see a TPU review of this cooler in the near future. If the price is good I could get 2 of these for my 5850s but I worry about clearence issues. Might need to go with the really thin fans from Scythe.

If you want a geogprahical location instead of Heidi, call it the Alpenföhn Maienfeld. Thats were Heidi used to live.
