Sharkoon Intros Vaya ATX Mid-Tower Value Case

Sharkoon rolled out Vaya, a value ATX mid-tower case priced at just around $35. Made entirely of SECC steel and ABS plastic, Vaya provides all the essentials to house today's hardware, including tool-free drive-bays and expansion slot covers, a motherboard tray with holes at the right places to help cable-management, a hole behind the CPU socket area to help handling coolers with backplates, and a pair of holes for water-cooling tubes.

Measuring 465 x 185 x 440 mm (L x W x H), the Sharkoon Vaya provides room for up to four 5.25" drives or utility panels, one exposed 3.5" bay, and four internal 3.5" bays. The front panel provides basic USB 2.0 and audio ports. The lone fan bundled is a front red-illuminated 120 mm spinner, there's room for one 120 mm fan on the rear panel, and two on the side panel.

It looks pregnant. With a baby from HELL.

(ok this needs to be cleared up: my main argument against it/the hell reference is the red colour. I hate shiny colours in cases.)

+1, I'm a designer myself -obviously for more complicated things.
Of course, this is not the worst case I've seen, but I sometimes wonder how hard is it for a company to actually hire someone who can design worth a damn, it it simply amazing that such products can make it past quality control, I always have difficulty wrapping my head around this. It is really not that difficult to design a something as simple as a computer case. too often I come across god awfully ugly products that would take someone like me about 15 minutes to overturn it come up with an elegant design that would be suitable for majority of the market.

Eh, personally i think you all are asking much for a $35 case. this is one of then nicer ones i've seen for that price range, i'd buy it. Course i haven't looked at cases in about a year so maybe the market is different now.

true, tho from a design point of view, cheaper products shouldn't necessarily be more ugly than the expensive ones(you try to make the best looking products within the budget). however, my comment wasn't directed at this case alone, I was talking about poor designed products in general, but you are absolutely right, for $35 this isn't bad.

If the front was not so ugly then yes, it is a nice 35$ case but that front is stupid

It reminds me of Darth Vader... and yes right away I found it unattractive.
Distinctive while not overwrought is the desirable image you want such mainstream /budget cases to exemplify.

How hard is that... obviously?

A buddy of mine wants me to build him a cheap workstation pretty soon. Front blowing fan, tool-less installation, looks decent enough. 35$ ? Sold. I can spend more on stuff that matters now. This really just made it to the top of my case list for him.

lol, exactly the case I was looking at for myself! great value at such a low price point, I was thinking of doing an experimental Llano system in it, A8 + 6670 and see how far I could overclock them stably...I'll see how funds go. Great suggestion though, really like that case.

From the OP. ;)

Could be worht it actually despite the looks. And it would look better if you replace the fan/disable the light.

its even more uglier to see some people still complaining for $35 case..

- made entirely of SECC steel and ABS plastic,
- tool-free drive-bays and expansion slot covers,
- motherboard tray with holes at the right places to help cable-management,
- a hole behind the CPU socket area to help handling coolers with backplates,
- a pair of holes for water-cooling tubes.

so far i havent see some major manufactures did this and priced it below $40

Someone will buy it or it will be in some custom gaming package deal so the consumer has no choice.

Some people like some really ugly things.

I was wanting to get a Sharkoon Bandit but no one sells them here.
My old Lian Li is good enough for now.

Sorry man, I had the price point of ~35 euro in my mind and unconsciously had the Euro = US Dollar fallacy.
