Well-known add-in board maker Sapphire Technology has today introduced the Pure Black 990FX, a high-end full ATX motherboard which is based on AMD's 990FX/SB950 chip combo and supports both AM3 and AM3+ processors.

Sapphire's new board comes with a black PCB and features a passive cooling solution, Diamond Black chokes, four DDR3 memory slots, nine SATA ports (six are SATA 6.0 Gbps, the rest are 3.0 Gbps) and six PCI-Express x16 slots for CrossFireX setups.

The Pure Black 990FX also has dual Gigabit Ethernet, one eSATA connector, four USB 3.0 ports (two on the back panel, two more via a header), Bluetooth, 7.1 channel audio, UEFI BIOS (and a Dual BIOS), a debug LED, and a MOLEX connector to supply graphics cards with more power. This motherboard has already started shipping and can be found listed with a price tag of 159.90 Euro.

I really thought the entire(or at least most)board was black

Why do Sapphire make pretty nice looking graphics cards but make damn ugly motherboards? Doesn't make sense. Also, no sound card/regular expansion slots at all? Cmon at-least chuck one in! Although if all 6 pci-e slots are truely x16 that's quite impressive, could they all run at that speed? Could be handy for a folder I guess In that case.

In b4 everyone else: I too miss the white PCB, seems with all the white cases it should have made a resurgence by now!?!?

Corsair 600T with white exterior, black interior, white motherboard with gray or black slots & heatsinks, white RAM, white tubing, black power cables, GPU, and PSU. Would be pretty sick. I would call her Grayscale. Anybody know anyone who can custom manufacture a motherboard? :p

What stops you from putting a sound card/raid controller in an x16 slot? Most sound cards/ etc are pci-e these days.

What a massive waste of bandwidth, a sound card doesn't need pci-e : /

PCI offers 133MB/s of bandwidth. PCI-Ex1 offers 250MB/s of bandwidth. By offering all PCI-E slots, a motherboard can support more current generation stuff. Why would you cause such a fuss buying a $60 PCI-Ex1 sound card when you're spending money on a 990FX board?
