Starved of Consensus, SOPA and PIPA to Get US President's Veto

Gobs and gobs of lobbyists' cash are about to go down the drain as the now stalled Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA) could be postponed "indefinitely". What's more, Barack Obama's (D) cabinet hinted that the President could veto the two pending House's bills out of concern that the bills Orwellian takedown provisions could damage the legitimate internet economy. This essentially means that SOPA and PIPA in their present forms are shelved till a consensus can emerge on them, which is nowhere in sight, as the juggernaut of public and institutional outrage has rolled over PR of several of the bills' previous proponents and endorsers.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith, one of the architects of these two works of literature today posted a statement in response to the Senate decision to what he calls a postponment of the two bills. SOPA and PIPA have been widely criticized by everyone from large corporations such as Google and Microsoft, to the Human Rights Watch. The bills are criticized to be too broad scoped to tackle piracy and IP theft, and could be misused for corporate censorship.

Not only did he renew the tax breaks but he ENHANCED the Patriot Act AND signed the NDAA.

Since when is not earning as much millions or billions as you used to, a valid reason to "get mad" and start fucking up the world to your liking? The worst part is that the people who are pushing this, are the ones who don't take any part on the creative aspects of what is being "stolen" from them, the ones whose only sense of self-worth is the number they see on their bank accounts. I'd hate to see what'll happen next when this gets approved.

For one this is America . We have a constitution and bill of rights , This is just not going to fly here ! When we get Onama out and get Ron Paul in things will make a turn in the right direction for once since Regan was in office !

Well no shit he personally didnt kill anyone but he gave the go ahead for our military to do something about Bin Laden. So in a some degree he is responsible for the killing of Bin Laden.

Indeed, the responsibility is equally shared, because they worked as a team to achieve this goal. Mind you, not that I think Obama did anything wrong here. ;)

Same thing if a prisoner on trial for murder is put to death by a court. Everyone involved, from the judge, to the jury, to the executioner is equally responsible.

Well no shit he didn't kill him, the point is all he did was give the okay. Hell, how hard is it to inform someone they are allowed to do something? It's not. Just because he is the "president" he gets credit for the take down of Bin Laden? That's kinda like saying "Because I work at McDonalds I am the reason they are so popular."

Eh thats a crappy comparison.. obama said yes.. the military had to come up with a plan and risk their lives to get him, the intel agencies had to spend years tracking him and following leads.. all obama did was say go.

But siding with the majority or not, I approve of this veto... Bigger picture it shows his flaws as a president, but for now I approve.

If you want to go that route then bush didn't get saddam out of power and bush wasn't responsible for starting this whole retarded war and he's not responsible for for the recession. Bush also didn't have to do anything about hurricane kitrina.
