3 TB Hitachi 5700 RPM Drives Available for use with Nexsan E-Series Storage Systems

Nexsan, a leading independent provider of disk-based data storage systems, today announced immediate availability of 3 TB Hitachi 5700 RPM drives as an option for all Nexsan E-Series storage systems. Enhanced with Hitachi's CoolSpin technology, Hitachi's 5700 RPM 3 TB drives run cooler and are energy efficient to complement Nexsan's AutoMAID power savings technology. Combined with E-Series storage systems, the new high capacity drives are ideal for digital video storage (DVS), disk-to-disk backup and archival applications.

The 3 TB Hitachi drives provide enormous capacity and feature innovative CoolSpin technology to deliver a greater level of power savings and quiet operation for efficiency minded IT environments. With low power, high capacity and cool operation, the 3.5-inch drives allow Nexsan to leverage the benefits of the latest components and operating systems to deliver higher density, eco-friendly storage. The drives deliver impressive sequential performance, making them perfect for applications that include data protection, archival storage and digital video.

E-Series SAN storage systems are the foundation of Nexsan's Flexible Storage Platform and contain anywhere from 14 to 60 drives per chassis in a very small footprint. Nexsan disk arrays can be increased in capacity, up to 360 TB, with an additional expansion unit holding up to 60 drives in 4U. Efficiency, reliability and ease-of-use are enhanced by unique Nexsan features including Active Drawer Technology, Anti-vibration Design, Cool Drive Technology and AutoMAID Technology, which delivers up to 87% power savings compared to alternative storage systems. All SAN storage systems can be configured with dual active/active controllers and battery-backed cache for high throughput and no-single-point-of-failure.
