KONGZHONG and NVIDIA Cooperate to Create PC+ Mobile Games Feast

China's leading mobile Internet company KONGZHONG Corporation and the world leader in visual computing technology industry NVIDIA officially announced the agreement on a strategic cooperation. The cooperation of the two sides in technology, channel and marketing will be implemented in PC online game and mobile online game areas.

After 10 years of development, online gaming in China has evolved into a dozen games available every day from the earlier resource-scarcity in the industry which produced dozens of games just annually. Nowadays, online game users have higher requirements on the game quality, particularly on the game's graphics and game play. They want visual effects of online games that can be compared with the graphic expressiveness of a console game.

With the help of NVIDIA's PhysX physics acceleration technology, the annual masterpiece of KONGZHONG Kung-Fu Hero launched in March 2012 fully demonstrates the new direction of online games and the applications of GPU in the future. The PhysX physics acceleration technology creates a fabricated effect and enables the in-game character's appearance to appear lively and vivid, enhancing the game's playability and fun. As the strategic cooperation grows closer, NVIDIA will provide KONGZHONG's under developed games with more advanced graphics processing technology, which will upgrade the graphics quality and open the online game HD experience to its users. Meanwhile, the improvement of the physics engine makes it possible for users to imagine more innovative game-play mode.

In addition to the technical cooperation, the two companies will also carry out wider cooperation in channel and marketing, including in-game design, promotion of hardware package, client pre-install and media resource sharing etc. Meanwhile, KONGZHONG is able to make more game players realize NVIDIA and its brand image. The first large-scale cooperation project of the two sides is 3D war game World of Tanks which starts its open beta test on April 12. "World of Tanks is a great online game, the gamer can enjoy the great gaming experience on NVIDIA GeForce GPU. Next, we are going to show a full range of the brilliant game effects of WOT on the GeForce GPU, so players can experience a fantastic gaming experience," Michael Jong, Senior Marketing Director of NVIDIA APAC said.

KONGZHONG and NVIDIA will also work together in the mobile game area to create more mobile game masterpieces. KONGZHONG Corporation, as a domestic mobile gaming premier leader, has accumulated a wealth of development and operation experience as well as channel resources both in the early era of Java and now also on the IOS or Android platform. Recently, KONGZHONG has acquired Nuomina, the well-known developer of cross-platform mobile game engine Handymo. Handymo engine supports all smart phone platforms, including IOS, Android and HTML5. Smart phones' MMO games and other smart phone games developed by Handymo can dramatically reduce the costs of development. Based on this engine, Nuomina currently has developed a number of successful games on Android and IOS, including The Journal of the Kingdom Creation, 3D Billiards Master, 3D Pool Master, Tank Fury HD 3D, Battle Fury,Duel: Blade & Magic,Pirates 3D Cannon Master,Dark Fury,R-Tech Commander: Galaxy,Fleets War etc. As KONGZHONG and NVIDIA establish a more in-depth strategic cooperation relationship, the mobile game quality be upgraded significantly. Especially with the full support of the super mobile chip Tegra designed specifically for mobile devices, users can experience as many wonderful visual effects as desktop games in phones. Furthermore, the game experience of phone online games will be upgraded to the same level as a PC online game.

KONGZHONG Vice President Zhang Yingnan also expressed her expectations of this collaboration, "We have full communication in this partnership, in addition to the close cooperation in technology, development and channel resources, both of us want to expand cooperation in wider areas. World of Tank is just a kick off, more and more high quality PC and mobile games will be brought to the public gradually."

So, wasn't crysis multiplayer? i know it sucked due to the mechanics of gameplay tho, not graphical goodness. BF3 has fantastic graphics and its all about multiplayer. I guess i'm trying to understand the significance of this partnership besides attention.

yea. Shit the only significant MMO that doesn't use cartoonish graphics(WoW, DC universe) that i can think of is Guild Wars, though my MMO experience isn't broad. And to me games like WoW and dc universe are based on cartoonish environments and last time i watched a cartoon(today) they don't have ridiculous detail like BF3. Though i definitely wouldn't say this is negative, just that for the majority of MMORPG's, i find it sort of insignificant, probably just me tho.
