ASUS Commando i965 Motherboard

ASUS has released what could possibly be the finest i965 based motherboard with support for all Core 2 generation CPUs. Codenamed Commando the board is part of the ROG line of boards which also have Crosshair and Striker extreme as members. To me a motherboard is a motherboard... I mean sure there are slight differences between different makes and models. The way I look at it is if it supports the cpu you need and its cheap give it a shot as long as its not some un-heard of company. I don't see any reason to buy the top end boards when its not going to make that much difference in the long run... yeah you might be able to overclock slightly better but you will probably pay 50 bucks for that little boost too.

If they write a good Bios and hell, four PCI slots can't be complained about... not to mention the horizontal SATA slots... this could indeed be a winner.

Interesting, what are the notches at the top of the board for? Looks like a good board, but I honestly love my eVGA 680i, and don't think this could top it.

Yes I know, and I don't think a board based off the P965 can top a board based off the 680i.

but if it has 1.8vcore and 3.2 vdimm qe could be wrong :D

True, from the pictures it looks like it has a 3.375 vdimm option out of the box, but who knows if it really is giving that or if that option even really works. ASUS boards seem to be pretty bad with voltage control, my A8N32 is set to 1.75v right now as the vcore, but I am only actually getting ~1.5v. Too bad there isn't a screen shot of the available vcore voltages.

so, correct me if im wrong, if you are running sli, you only have 1 spare pci slot? it seems like people have mentioned this before and i know pci is beginning to be outdated, but alot of people still use pci for sound cards, network cards, etc.. why only have 1?
