Sony PS3 owners try to upgrade...to a Nintendo Wii?

It may seem crazy, trading a console worth no less than $550 for one that retails for $250. However, that's exactly what people are doing. According to Craigslist.org, there are currently 6 people in Austin, 18 in New York City, and an impressive 48 in San Francisco trying to offload their PS3 for a Nintendo Wii. While most trades are PS3 for Wii and cash, there are some trades that are purely PS3 for Wii, meaning that the PS3 owner would be losing a considerable amount of money in the deal. While there is no definite reason for people doing this, some speculate that people owning a second PS3 who can't sell for the price they were looking for on Ebay can't think of a better way to use the PS3 then to trade it for a Nintendo Wii.

At least they've seen the light now :D

PS3s aren't around here yet, so I haven't used one, but the Wii is great.

well i reckon ps3 will be the flop of the year (2006 or 2007?) as firstly that rediculous price tag, talk about price fixing, and also for sony on releasing it to countries at a time, whats the point in that, they need all the sales they can get now. :wtf:

What makes you think it's the best console ever created?

More proof that Sony really messed up this time. Regardless as to how 'good' the ps3 is, they lost a lot of loyale customers by outpricing them and by deciding to charge for in game upgrades, accesories and stuff. The "Blue Ray" disk isn't enough of an advantage to sell the consules. Out of 50 people I knew planning on buying A PS3 less than 10 did. The others got Wii's and Xbox 360's. Sony realy messed up this time.

Sucks for them because as many well know, the PS3's actually cost $800 to make, so they're losing on the consoles. Why did they think making them so expensive would do them any good? they were hoping to make money off games, etc., but with the wii being so inexpensive in comparison, they've really shot themselves in the foot coming out when they did.

To tell you the truth and this IMO, PS3 dissapointed me as well. Not only the cost but they can't even include component cables with the damn thing. Jeesh for god sakes maybe include a HDMI cable for the price you paying for it! I dunno, I played Resistance: Fall Of Man, and compared to GoW, GRAW, and R6:LV Resistance: Fall of Man (RFOM) is merely a PS2 game. The graphics don't EVEN COME NEAR any of the games I mentioned. And no I didn't play RFOM for 10 mins at a game store, I played it for a couple of hours and it grew tiresome and boring compared to GoW i could play that game for hours on end. For the amount of time Sony and the creators of RFOM had they could of made it sooo much better its not even funny.

Yea, PS3 has Blu-Ray, HDMI, and a glossy finish eeewwww cool. But 360 user can just get the HD-DVD player for 200 bucks and play there old DVD's in Hi-Def. And get some cool looking skins to go with their BOX. Sony is going to lose MONEY in the long run!

some of this could be also be down to the price of the games software for the ps3, the era where sony was the prestige item has long gone sony needs to fall inline with everyone else.

Sony is too sure of their own success, I think they forget that developers simply used to prefer their platform. 360 is the new platform to develop for, larger installed base and easier to code for.

I've played X360, Wii, and PS3 and my conclusions are the following. Out of all these systems Wii deffinitely is the only system of its kind. Its well built and though its not graphically exciting the gameplay is incredible. For those of us that do most of our gaming on the PC and only some on a console (ie: when you have guests) its a great system. Its awesome for mini-games and games like Wii Sports. Between the X360 and the PS3 the Xbox deffinitely is the better system. It already has an impressive catalog and its built like a brick shit house which i couldn't entirely say for the PS3 which has nothing interesting about it. Too little too late and not nearly as good as its competition. If i had a PS3 i'd so throw a wii remote at it....

Ya know, Sony didn't drop the ball with this. In a rush to send out the system, I believe they overlooked a few flaws. Its not to say its a bad system or they screwed up. The damn XBOX 360 (and I own one, so I know) is great. But that thing has been out for almost 2 years (well 1 year and 8 months I believe) before Sony was able to release theirs. Of course its gonna have a bigger install base, its been out longer. And since it was here first, developers are now getting good at coding for it. Sony will do the same it always has, since the first PS and eventually will dominate or have a little lead. Its superior in its components, has beautiful games (the 360 does as well, cept NCAA 07, that looks horrible) and some games the XBOX wont have (personally, Im a FF fan, no, not 11). Also, they are not doing anything different than XBOX, except charging a higher price and still losing money. XBOX, you have to buy everything as well to upgrade (except HD Component Cables, which comes with platinum). So, all you nay sayers on the PS3 make me sick. (just kidding). Its the reason I am waiting to get a PS3. I don't want to pay 700 bucks for a POS system that has bugs. Like I did with my XBOX 360 I'm gonna wait till things normalize and everything is fine.

PS3 is so expensive because sony wanted to develop their own in-house blue ray technology, then they fucked it up and had to re-design it. so i doubt the consoles cost $800 to make, thats pure BS. Sony would probably just LIKE to make $800 on each console to get back the R&D funds they lost due to their own stupidity.
