CES 2007: Ultra Debuts the First Carbon Fiber Computer Case

Ultra plans to debut unique new carbon fiber case, in this year's CES 2007. The carbon fiber is light weight material, which has been used in aircraft and race cars for years, but the Ultra case is about to be the first computer part to use it. The Ultra case has 5x 5.25 bays, 5x 3.5" internal bays for hard drives, and 2x 3.5" bays for floppy or small baybus controllers. The Ultra Carbon Fiber Case measures 20 ½” (height) x 19 ¾” (depth) x 8 ¼” (wide). It has a two 120mm fans, one in the front and one in the rear for exhaust. The frame is actually made from aluminum while the panels are from carbon fiber. The new Ultra Carbon Fiber case will be available with Ultra’s new line of gaming PCs and available for individual purchase later this month. Ultra Products will also offer a clear-window version. Also coming later this month Ultra will announce a custom-paint program for users who wish to customize their own DIY rig with original artwork or designs.Source: Legit Reviews

Real carbon fiber is actually quite expensive but there is a lot of fake look-alike stuff that many people buy to impress themselves. If there is any quality to these cases, I'd expect them to be expensive. Not sure why someone would want one, but different strokes for different folks.

I have seen it, and used it. WE SAVE EVERY BIT OF IT EVEN IF IT LOOKS LIKE CRAP!!! It is ungodly expensive. Also, it does not shatter, crack, and can withstand amazing force. It has a bit of play and flex, but it will snap before it cracks.

That case must be damn light (and strong enough to kick). But modders will have problems cutting something thats harder than the blade >_>.

The words "Borla Exhaust System" remind of that retard "Clay" from Tokyo Drift. Bragging about his shitty Viper :p

Carbon fiber is awesome material. You've seen it on the fast and the furious and in the need for speed games mainly. Its lightweight, strong and durable and very nice looking. For computer cases, Im not sure how this translates to thermals. Unless its mainly for looks.

Nice case. I'd like to see how much it weighs. Anyway, on the review it sais that carbon-fiber is used by planes. That's actually false. Also, carbon-fiber is "taugh" but not like titanium or iron.

Maybe not in Commercial aircraft, but in military aircraft it is. It has one advantage over iron and titanium, it is almost as strong and at least half the weight.
