SPARKLE unveils two GeForce 8800 ULTRA Cards

Today is the official launch day of NVIDIA's GeForce 8800 Ultra graphics card and Sparkle is one of the first companies revealing final silicon. It comes in two flavors, an 'ordinary' GeForce 8800 Ultra and a beefed up version named Calibre P880 ULTRA. While the first one features 612MHz/2160MHz core and memory clock respectively, the thermoelectric cooled (TEC) P880 got super fast 650MHz/2250MHz instead. The prices of these cards are unannounced yet.

Piss on ATI day.

Yayyyy. I hate to say it, but if these cards perform better, and are quieter, and don't have all the built in crap I might have to go for the green camp.

thats where I'm at too...if the R600 is a bust, i will have to go green again...my old 6800gt was nice but was the last card i owned by nv..

I think that the Sparkle model look awsome...it has a sleek stylish look....too bad all you see of the card after installation is the bottom and side...they should make cards that mount top facing out...so we can see the pretty coolers better...:rockout:

TEC is supposed to be an uber nice cooling method. Sparkle looks like its in a position of dominance with this 8800 Ultra.

I just dont like the concept on tec cooling on air, uses so much power when uber efficient standard air or integrated water cooling would suffice

Wow...but on my board (P5N-SLi) the PCI-E slot is quite close to the other (about 2 PCI things away from each other)...so saying as the 8800 takes up 2 its self, and the extra cooling means it would be almost impossible...even if it did physically fit it would be a bugger to fit.

And cost the best part of £1100 :O.

And it would take up allot of power.

And heat.

I still want one though.

Yea. I've been holding out for R600. I built a new PC for DX10 as soon as Vista was released. If ATI doesn't get their F'ing S together, I might lose my patience.

Patience patience Gentlemen! I think after all these articles and speculation we will probably find as usual that each camp has strong cards within a particular price segment, I am guessing that if you want to pay high end top buck for a $500 plus card NVidia may just shave it, ATi will shave the mid range and pretty even on the low end, thats just guesswork of course but within the full DX10 range of each camp there will be major contenders from each side, I really dont beleive one of them will dominate the whole range in either performance or price terms.
