Sony Denies PS3 pricecut; Circuit City may still Offer discount

Yesterday, we pointed out that Circuit City might be planning to cut the PS3 price by $100 USD. Unfortunately, if this price cut actually happens, it's only temporary. The president of Sony Corporate Entertainment America (SCEA) has formally/officially announced that Sony plans no world-wide price cut of this sort. While Sony was considering a price cut to help bolster sales, which developers have been calling for for quite some time, Sony is stone-walled on this issue.

The Circuit City advertisement may yet be legitimate. We'll keep you posted as to whether or not the PS3 will really be $500 USD on the week of July 15th at Circuit City.

Circuit city is the worst store, they have a very low stock, and a shitty return policy.

Lets say you got a gift, opened it, dont like it...return it and play 15% restocking fee...gay. :shadedshu

Sony would be wise to follow this and drop $100 to $150 USD on their Console. This way, they will sell more, make up the difference and sell more software and hardware add ons. Its just smart business.

They will probably do this as they say "for a short while" only to test the market, if they can sell twice as many consoles while that discount is on that they are selling now then they will probably implement it permanently.

While a good idea(In theory), passing this off as some sort of "sale" will give you guaranteed sales results.

where the hell are my stars
if they are going to sell the thing for $600 they should include games (like 3 or 4) maybe then ppl will buy it but even at $500 the PS2 has more titles and cost in the low $100s that means you get PS2 and 5-10games... better deal in my book. hey maybe thats why it outsold the PS3 for Xmas... retarded sony

Yeah, cheap is why it outsold PS3, but I'll tell you right now, PS2 looks worse on a 32" LCD 720p set, than it does on a normal set. I gave my PS2 to my little brother because it looks terrible on my Samsung. If you have an LCD HDTV, PS3 is really the only worthwhile Sony option.

Sony needs to cut these damn prices. lol

Circuit City Price cuts

I am currently an employee at circuit city, and I can tell you as a fact that they will DEFINITELY be dropping the prices. Furthermore, it won't be on a limited stock, it applies to all of our PS3's (At my store we have about 15-20). On top of that, if you buy a PS3, the Blue-Ray foundation is offering a promo on all machines that have the players 5 free Blue-Ray titles after rebates. Think about it. Get $100 bucks off the console, and then $125 in free HD Movies.
