Europeans given PS3 bundle instead of price cut

Although there are no plans for an 80GB version of the PS3 or a price cut anytime soon in Europe, gamers may be happy to hear that Sony is set to offer a new 'starter pack' as a consolation. For an unchanged price of £425, Sony is offering a bundle consisting of the standard 60GB PS3 console, two SIXAXIS controllers and two free games from a choice of Resistance: Fall of Man, MotorStorm, Genji: Days of the Blade, Formula One Championship Edition and Ridge Racer 7. Sony, which announced this new deal at this year's E3, says it is offering £115 of extras for with no increase in price, although European gamers may still be displeased to hear they won't be getting the 80GB version of the console after the initial launch was so delayed. Compared to similar deals in the UK, this price is still £125 more expensive than the Xbox 360 with games and £225 more expensive than the Wii with two games.

Not a bad deal, but I would still refuse to pay that kind of money for one :(

Playstation 3 = £400
R:FOM = £30
Motorstorm = £30
SIXAXIX = £28

All amazon.co.uk prices making this bundle worth £488 ($994), so we are only getting a price cut of £63 ($128) effectively rather than the advertised "£115" ($234).

But this is Sony's retail price, so Amazon may chop a bit more off it.

Maybe, but the inclusion of TWO controllers and TWO Games makes my envious. I bought my PS3 when it was $599.99 However, Im not angry about my purchase :) Really wishing I got the 3 extras yall get over there :(

If those games were so great (they aren't), then people would already own PS3s (they don't).

Thats a good thing! thats only £300 (ish) here, you telling me you cant get two controllers and two games for £125! The £425 here = $850 (ish) in the US, so its still ripping off the rest of europe :shadedshu

It was in PC Pro magazine last month, article called "Rip-Off Britain".

Why don't they just build production plants over here?

I feel bad for you UKers. I think getting "a bundle", instead of a pricecut, is crap. Now, if you were allowed to choose ANY 2 ps3 titles, it may be worth it, but not as it stands, imo.
