Nigerians use OLPC laptop to browse for porn

Nigerian schoolchildren have recently gotten the first batch of donated laptops from the One Laptop Per Child project (Laptop.org). Ideally, they would be using their brand new laptops to discover the world, get a head start in school, and excel in the competitive business world we live in.

So what do the Nigerian schoolchildren do? They watch all the pornography they can find all day long, and then store it on the 1GB SSD on each laptop. Nigerian officials are very upset that the OLPCs are being used to watch pornography, and in response, the developers of OLPC are putting filters in future versions of it.

All day long? I'd like to see the research methodology for all the numerous cited studies that make this claim legitimate.

I can't seem to find the bibliography, could someone give me a pointer please?

It's not about education. Each child with a laptop gets to grow up to be an auction site and email scam artist.

I doubt its really true.
I doubt the reactionary uncritical masses will let that stop them believing it without evidence.

Probably the dumbest two things to say in a thread about people surfing porn on the Internet.

Surfing porn is gay? Well I guess it's gay if they're looking up same-sex porn.

They know what porn is because they're human and have sexual desires. "Hey, this turns me on. Wonder what it is though."

Unless you declare henceforth otherwise I'll assume that's licensed under a CC license and rip it off to hell, and possibly back again :P

I didnt say surfing porn was gay. I said that the concept of spending money to buy a laptop to educate a child who instead ends up using the laptop to download porn was gay.

I guess your right on the second point. Though when your young you didnt really think about that sort of stuff. Goes to show how fucked up the kids are already. :p

Well...I guess these nigerian scam artists actually make money off the dumb people here in the US, which is good for their economy in some way...so it's kind of a good thing i guess?
