ASUS today announced the world's first motherboard supporting AMD's AM2+ CPU. After long-term cooperation with AMD, the M2A-VM motherboard series is the first to be available. More AM2+ CPU compatible motherboards will come from ASUS in the near future.

"As we have strive to be number one in providing the best quality, service and innovation to customers, ASUS gives the world the first motherboard, the M2A-VM, which is compatible with the latest AMD AM2+ CPU." said Joe Hsieh, Vice President of ASUS' motherboard business.

The motherboards listed below are the candidate motherboards compatible with the AM2+ CPU. Users can enjoy the ultimate experience with the AMD's next generation CPU by updating the latest BIOS on ASUS' support site.

Note: The above AM2+ CPU compatible motherboard candidates are partly listed. These candidates can be identified from the "Support AM2+ CPU" logo or sticker on the color box.

First? There's been a Biostar AM2+ board out for quite a while now. I believe it was announced here, no less...

Lol, but rules are we have to copy and paste the PRs like this... I don't know quite what ASUS mean, but AFAIK it's ASUS' first AM2+ mobo.

Thats more like it. Because they are a bigger company I suppose they can boast themselves better.

Does this mean they are releasing new versions of those boards? Will there be a bios update for existing ones? I just bought a M2A-VM HDMI:mad:

Presumably for them to give the same model number the hardware must be the same, so I would expect ASUS to offer a BIOS update. TBH, ASUS is a pretty decent company and I'd be surprised if it didn't, although you never know. Perhaps send them an email asking?

doesnt anybody find it strange that Asus have started paying AMD some attention again since they managed to claw back some of their shares on the stockmarket? lol IMO even tho AMD was once a very reputable company that took a huge hit & has been in 'hybernation' while Intels C2D's have been running the show i think its more a case of 'holy sh*t your alive?!' from the Asus party who have focused more or less all their efforts on other projects.

hopefully AMD still have the Grrrrrrrr to demand a christmas card & not WAIT to be sent one given if they are still on Asus's christmas card list

C'mon AMD, I wouldnt dress up in a cheerleader costume for anymody else so you better make it worth while.:rockout::rockout::rockout:

just because you fell from grace doesnt mean that you cant rise from the ashes - Hey if Jesus was able to do it, im sure you could...also there was that mummy from that movie that managed to do it....

oh oh another AMD fan boy cry!!

Lets hope its not Jesus, then like Jesus it will be good hearted and leave way for C2D. Lets hope one of those nasty Mummys that sends the C2Ds inside the pyramid.

It's like that with most motherboard makers. The top dog gets the most food. When AMD was in the lead, it was all about AMD with a few Intel trinkets here and there. Its not all surprising. Not to mention, its new tech...well sort of.

Asus Press Release September 3 2007
Strange... well this PR is definitely dated newer, so I haven't just dug up an old link on ASUS' site by accident. I'll look into this tomorrow, see if there is any significance about the new PR. Thanks for letting me know Hellas. :toast:

That Biostar board will simply work without a BIOS update with the Phenom, but will not take advantage of its new features like HT 3.0 and so on. So technically it's not an AM2+ mobo. By the way, a few days ago someone posted here an announcement about MSI's AM2+ mobos, so Asus is not the first.
