If you have an AM2 board, you should be able to simply drop in a phenom, right?Or do you need an AM2+ board?

If you think about it, with the low price of amd's processors now they're still pretty competitive when it comes to a low price point.

Really prices of processor to performance compared to Intel isn't that good. But when you factor in a good mobo...Intel's are alot more.

:toast: Well, I am glad to see the prices coming down. I paid $180 for my opteron 170 and I am still content with it. :D With prices like that when I am ready to upgrade next year, things will be looking good.

HelveticaAre these socket 939?
I think they're for socket AM2. Because socket 939, the highest is 4200 and is currently at $70.

You all suck. I paid $600 for my 4400+.

Does this mean the 5000+ Black edition will drop in price? I might have to build a budget AM2 rig just to play with (replace this overpriced pile of crap 4400+...basically)
