Microsoft Pledges to Fix WGA Issues

It's no secret that Microsoft's anti-piracy campaign, WGA (Windows Genuine Advantage), is a lot like strict gun laws: they make sure that only criminals have an easy time of things. While legitimate users are accused of piracy and have to re-activate Windows every time they upgrade their graphics card, pirated versions of Windows, completely cracked, lack all forms of WGA software. In light of this, Microsoft did a study of their WGA software. An analysis of the study results found a couple things that would make WGA much more trustworthy, easy to work with, and less frustrating. Microsoft has already repaired the WGA validation servers that caused such a fuss back in August, and is adding quite a few backup servers. Microsoft also added 24/7 technical support via phone and internet for anyone with a problem. In the future, Microsoft plans to unleash a "get genuine" campaign. If anyone discovers that their version of Windows is pirated, and wants to go legitimate, the "get genuine" software will give these people an easy way to get a legitimate copy of Windows installed and running.Source: Channel Web

What is this "easy" way of getting a legitimate copy? Going to the store and buying it?

Well a valid key is enough, as it's tageted to unvalid key owners, that obviously have windows already. So pay something and get e-mailed a key would be the easiest, doubt though it will be that simple knowing microsoft :)

With XP, ou payed £100 for a key, then they send you a Windows Genuine Conversion tool that replaces hacked files with the proper Windows ones.

honestly, i have a legit copy of XP, but since the wpa thing is uber gay and im not calling up ms everytime i nuke my hdds (which i've done over 25 times over the past 6 months). i have a very small *insert magic here* making my copy of windows think its genuine. 2 seconds to use *magic* vs. calling ms and going through all the crap. which one do you choose?

I have a valid key code for regular windows xp pro I bought long time ago.
I just use a pirated xp pro SP1 setup with my valid key code and..........Walla!!!!!!!!!!!
It updates and everything too. Oh wait I must also mention that we also have Framework 2.0 and Direct X 9.0c setups. I saved these files from Windows Update itself. The only thing you really have to do is get the Windows installer 3.0 from update.

Service pack 2 is garbage, they do not allow me to use my $150 key code I bought 6 years ago. This forces me to buy another copy of Windows XP Pro with SP2 for another $150. I have gotten more viruses from Service pack 2 than ALL OTHER VERSIONS OF WINDOWS.
Ironic how the "illegal" stuff works better than anything "genuine".

Wake up Microsoft and I might buy something for change.

Well, it's a good thing they didn't pledge NOT to fix it, I guess.

Guys, I have to ask, so that we don't aid some fourteen-year-old script kiddie Googling MS activation bypasses, to not discuss the intricacies of piracy :).

My Pre-service pack key updates to SP2 just fine.
