OCZ Demos Mind Controlled Gaming Device

It looks like OCZ is planning the future of gaming with its Neural Impulse Actuator - the world's first gaming control system that allows users to play games by monitoring muscle movement, brain waves and eye movement. After calibration, the device allows the wearer to carry out actions such as moving, turning, strafing and changing weapons without needing a keyboard, simply by thinking what they want to do. This allows for more fluid gameplay and faster reactions - things that are essential to hardcore gamers. The mouse is still used to aim, but absolutely no keyboard inputs are required. Apparently the device is almost ready to go into production, and has been designed to take advantage of DirectX and multithreading as much as possible to minimise the performance impact. There are no details on pricing or availability yet, but if OCZ has its way, gaming could be very different in a few years time.

Very interesting. Price may be an arm and a leg, and I'll believe it when I see it in full production. I still remember the Virtual Reality days and how that was supposed to take off and change gaming - and we know how well that worked out.

I'm glad they know something... because they sure don't know how to take pictures... or if not talking, releasing the pictures to the public... IMO

Neat and all, but having to 'set it up' is what concerns me. What a possible nightmare that might be...

Until a piece of hardware can actually monitor and determine brain sensory and convert that into the 'keyboard movement,' then I don't feel impressed.

This is a step in the right direction, so to speak, but for now it's just a gimmick.

Hahahaha

Could it really be on the market within the next 5 years & will it deliver? Who knows.

Could see one problem - if multiple users are trying to control the same device (especially married couples). I guess there needs to be some sort of tactile feedback or electro-shock feedback, LOL

Guys, This has a potential far more greater than useing it to play games. Imagine being able to visualize a word, sentence or maybe even a paragraph and it just gets typed in or maybe even like copyed and pasted out from your mind and to your computer.

Screw Microsofts voice recognition! Just think about clicking start and whala, your start menu pops open.

This indeed could be the shit, if they manage to take it beyond gameing and to the buisness world.:rockout:

Lets hope that words or phrases do not get typed out that you do not want to be typed out.

Also I forsee some major privacy intrusions for husbands and wives for example: The wife decides to put it on her husband while he is sleeping hence she will get words as to what he is dreaming of. shes thinking (is it true that he really would want to be getting laid by some other woman) well she would probably find out what kind of dreams hes having in words. Thank god they still cant put what a persons thinking into visual pictures lol:laugh::laugh: that would be very disturbing im sure.

Well so far it reads your mind and it does not give commands(at least I hope not). Besides I'd think people wouldn't buy it if it controlled peoples minds.:)

Actually, I like that idea. If you can't remeber what you were dreaming of last night, just look at Microsoft office and you can read every thing, KOOL!!.

I hope they do assigne key thoughts to keyboard keys. If they can make so you can move, I am sure they will be able to do something like I thought.
