Ceramic PS3 Coming to the US

It now looks almost certain that Sony is planning to release the Ceramic White PS3 in the US sometime soon following a recent filing with the FCC. The model number differs to that of the console being sold in the Asian market, so it looks like it will be a slightly different version, and the controller number suggests a standard SIXAXIS controller rather than the DualShock 3 being sold with the Ceramic model in Asia. No official pricing or launch dates have been revealed, although an announcement is expected on 28th January which could potentially lead to the console going on sale as early as next month.

ktrThe funny thing is that the 360 cost more than the ps3 if you think about it.

The ps3 80gb cost $500 bucks, and the equivalent 360, the elite, cost $350 bucks.

Now the 360 does not have built in wireless ($100) nor high Def player ($180).

So the equivalent 360 will cost $630, and that is not including a XBL gold subscription.
True, but you know I've found it's not worth trying to convince most people who aren't actually ready to buy. They don't care, because MS is apparently God's gift to man (not being serious, even though some people take that seriously ). Lol, people could have a deal right infront of them and wouldn't give a damn. But hey it's like the old saying, One man's junk is another man's treasure. :toast:

RavenasThey PS3 was 599$...They brought the price down significantly. The PS3 has excellent hardware and many things the Xbox 360 doesn't have at all.

First people complained about 599$, now you're complaining about 50$. I mean come on, I'm not trying to be an ass but it's almost like you want something for nothing. :ohwell:

I'm a broke college student and really don't have all that much money. I set out for a goal of getting 600$ into my budget a long time ago, and I finally got there and they dropped the price. I couldn't have been more happy now I hear people all the time complaining that it's still to much...
I'm a broke college student too, and the $120 or so dollars I have left after bills every month weeks usually goes straight to my gas tank, or to buy gifts for family/friends. At this point I won't even be able to save money for almost anything until I get out of school in 3 years:cry:.

The 360 Elite costs £300 here in the UK, that's $600.

People in the US can't complain that one of the consoles is expensive when both of them cost more in Europe

That's not aimed at you btw KTR, I was just picking up on the price you pointed out. :)

I hear ya, I have a lot of family in the UK...and they ask me to send some electronic gizmos to them from the US...such as the nintendo DS, and a laptop. The sad thing is that the pound is worth double than the dollar, but it still has the same buying power as the dollar.

True, but it's not as if the people who bought the first PS3's in the US didn't pay 600$. The early adopters always pay more for the product. Since the PS3 just recently came to the UK, it's priced as it would be for early adopters.

PS3 40gb (no PS2 playback at all) is AUD $687 here, I'm not sure what that compares to the US. But I get enough for it by buying and selling :). I mow lawns on weekends and usually get around AUD$85 a month (including allowance from my mum and dad) and I do stuff like I bought a 360 for AUD$363, with 3 games. I can sell it now (6 months later) for $400 just for the console. That's how I'm going to buy a PS3.

How long do people think it will take white to get to Australia? I don't know how slow Sony is going to Pal countries but if there anything like Nintendo, it will be a LONG time. lol.
