That red vs. blue is stupid, only thing red about HD-DVD is its marketing color. I bet people were thinking that HD-DVD is old technology because they must of thought it still uses red lasers.

I never thought you were wrong. All I wanted was for the consumer to decide which the consumer did not. Now we will see what happens to the prices since BR is exclusive. Will they go up or down? Sony has a lot of money to recoup from paying the studios.

While you are technically right, the percentage of HD movie sales is so low, neither format makes a dent in the market. So not enough consumers have bought HD at all to base a decision off of it. But by the same token, it's been speculated that the whole reason HD has such a low market penetration, is because of the confusion caused by the format war. In short, something had to be done.

I personally think this whole war took place just so MS could try to get a shot at putting a dent in Sony's back account. In my opinion, sales of the PS3 are going to rise 10% on this whole deal and back fire on MS. MS is going to be stuggling to keep up with the PS3 sales this year, while the Blu-Ray owner base continues to increase every sell.
