Futuremark has released a 2.5MB hotfix for their popular benchmark applications. Set to work with 3DMark03 Build 3.6.0, 3DMark05 Build 1.3.0, 3DMark06 Build 1.1.0 and PCMark05 Build 1.2.0, this hotfix updates the GPU core/memory clock detection library for enhanced compatibility and support for new hardware. It also adds three new files: Direcpll.dll (4.10.1.94), Entech.sys (5.0.1.1), Entech64.sys (5.0.1.1).

This is the new patch, not the 2007 one.

You would think they could update 06 to support multi-cores.

I thought 3m06 already did . . .

If that was the case, we all would probably be getting higher than 0-2 FPS in teh CPU test.

Wasnt 06 released before dual core was released? Like back in 05? Dual cores came out around summer of 06 if im not mistaken.

Still a single core app.

No, 3Dmark06 fully supports multi core. The cpu test gets such low frames, because it's very hard for a cpu to render 3d graphics.

Compare some dual core scores in ORB, to a Quad clocked the same, and you'll see a huge difference in the cpu score.

agreed, also set the affinity to one core and watch it fall very fast

Just for the record, dual-cores started to appear in 2005, towards the end of the year, but making software supporting multi-threading means it supports multi-core systems and multi-processor systems, which have been around much longer (although most people can't afford one, and it's less likely to be used as a gaming rig, but not impossible to find someone doing so - ala Mr. DanTheBanjoman). Not adding multi-threading would have been a stupid idea anyhow, since they knew both Intel and AMD had multi-core processors coming out.

the cpu tests in 2006 are multicored.. the gaming tests are not.. one core at a given speed will run them just as fast as four.. basically only one core is being used to run the gaming (3d grafix) tests..

any extra score comes from the cpu test.. the rest is from pure cpu core speed and the grafix card..

with one core running my system (at 4 gig) scores 11000-ish with two cores running it scores 12000-ish.. each core seems to be worth about a thousand points in the cpu test.. less with a slower cpu..

trog

ps.. 2005 and 2003 are pure single core.. one core at a given speed will score just as high as four cores at the same speed..

I knew 03 was single threaded, but I though 05 supported up to 2 cores?

as did I, along with AquaMark.

Awwwww, hell! Futuremark Vantage will be out soon and will take it's place as the de-facto benchmark app, and we'll all forget about 3m06,05,03,01,AqM3.
