Finally a new AMD/Nvidia board. Im growing tired of my 590i M2N32-sli board and my damn second 8800gt is covering 2 of my sata ports and right angle cables wont work.

saddly i think im gonna retire my AMD setup and go for a Striker II and e8400 if i can get the right price =(

Did I read this right? This supports independent clocking of the shaders on 3870?

But the RV670 / 680 do not have independent clock generators for the shaders. It's more of a hardware thing than something to do with a custom BIOS.

The Crosshair II Formula...implies there could be a 'Extreme' in the pipeline. :D

The Crosshair II Formula has no less than three x16 PCI Express slots, but due to a chipset limitation these will either operate as dual x16 or a single x16 and dual x8 when used with three graphics cards. This chipset also features integrated graphics and will work with Hybrid SLI.

No, you didn't read it right. They list the 9600GT in that lineup. ONly Geforce 8 and 9 series support a seperate shader clock. ATI's GPU architecture doesnt.

You have to be subjective in this... the 775Mhz ati shaders outperform 2 to 1 the Geforce's 1.2 - 1.5 Ghz shaders.

ATI's R670 has 320 superscaler 5x1 shader units. In all, 64 shader units to G80-90's 128.

at 775 Mhz these 64 Shader units stay competitive with 128 1.5 Ghz shaders. lol.

Superior technology, for a lower price, we all win.

Nvidia has always had to cram more shaders in their gpus because they know, shader to shader, ATI will win, and has won since the R300 (Radeon 9000 series)

I know how the ATI cards are designed, but if you read that paragraph, the way it's worded makes it sound as if Asus allows independent clocking of the ATI shaders. Which is why I asked the question, because I always thought it wasn't possible.

And ATI's "more efficient" shaders don't mean squat. They're a more complex shader, therefore game makers don't want to code for them. The architecture differences don't mean a thing, only the end results matter. That means NV is ahead this round.
