HIS is showing off a few new products at the show. The first is a USB to DVI graphics adapter. This unit uses the DisplayLink technology to enable output from a USB connector to a DVI monitor. The units are connected to a notebook. The second item is a Radon HD2400 low-profile graphic card with built-in HDMI support. It comes with 512MB of DDR2 memory and active cooling. Such a unit should be great for a HTPC.

i fear for the performance of those adaptors... USB just wouldnt keep up with media.

No, they are fine. They are not designed for 3D or video, but for multiple display walls, or getting a Macbook Air to connect to an external screen, e.g. projector, etc.
my main concern would he how well it handles say, 720p media - is it CPU bound, or is there a pure limit with the displays? (480Mb/s USB2.0 just doesnt seem like a lot)

hopefully there'll be a firewire version, because it would be much better suited to the task: streaming video data instead of data bursts. But anyway, It doesn't matter how crap they are, they could easily beat my laptop's graphics...

May I repeat my previous comment with emphasis: They are not designed for 3D or video. They are for laptops that dont have external out, or for running MULTIPLE displays, whether laptop or desktop. Nice review including video of device "in action". (Similar, but not HIS device). You will see it is perfect for a second, third, fourth or more display when using regular "static" windows, like internet, word, excel, etc. But NOT video or 3D. http://metku.net/index.html?path=reviews/gefen-usb-to-dvi-adapter/index_eng

oh and since its been ignored: the 2400 with HDMI. Since all video cards work with a DVI to HDMI adaptor i find that card....absolutely dull and pointless? they got a half height card, and put a cheap HDMI adaptor in the box. Maybe someone who was there can explain whats so special?

USB 3.0 and this might work. But those adapters are bigger than the card itself.
