Reports by TG Daily suggest that NVIDIA could release a WHQL-certified stable release PhysX driver that supports all capable GPUs GeForce 8 series thru 9-series and GTX 200 series. The driver would expand driver-level support to all PhysX-based game titles including the likes of Ghost Recon 2: Advanced Warfighter, Warmonger and Cell Factor: Revolution.

It is expected that downloads of free games such as Warmonger and Cell Factor could spike in August since the user-base of PhysX substantially increase then. The driver is expected to be out on the 5th of August.

NV GPUs, which is why I declared the contents of "all capable" ( 8 series....9 and GTX 200). :)

No that's a different kettle of fish. This is PhysX not general physics :)

Finally it will support most GPU's :)

The only games that this will work on is the games with PhysX... Unreal Tournament 3, Gears of War, those ones.. Just any game that has a Agaia Logo or Nvidia PhysX at the start.

Glad to see that it's almost here for the majority of people. :toast:

I am interested in the benefits of it, I was reading somewhere that a guy that's able to use the beta in a game like Warmonger lost about 5-10FPS...but the physics were improved. Could be BS, but if I'm getting plenty of FPS, losing 5-10 for more physics might just be worth it! Time will tell, I guess we'll find out in due time!

Unreal, Gears, is nothing but butter for me when I had my Gx2... I loved using it. Once I get my GTX on Friday, It will be in there... I don't feel the lag of having 20 things going on at once... and kept straight at 64fps on unreal during play. Even internet play.

This is great news. I dont change drivers very often because I have to reconfigure Rivatuner each time (I struggle with RT) but I'll be giving this one a go. Then I dont need to be envious of the people happily running modded drivers with phys-x:toast:

thats up to ATI. Nvidia made a statement saying its ok for ATI to do so, and ATI replied in a confusing manner.

how do you think i feel? as an early adopter of an 8800GTX (lan rig) i've got one long lasting card, with this physx update

yeah yeah yeah......but what about drivers for us people who own´s a Ageia PhysX PPU card????
Are we banned to run with "old" Ageia drivers from nov. 2007??

possibly. i'd be emailing Nvidia and asking them for newer drivers.

the physx app with GPU support also has options for the ageia card, dont the drivers come with that? if so its only changed hands as its on the NV site.

Nvidia says that they support original PhysX PPU cards...but they really don´t ....
Warmonger and GRAW2 are almost un-playable
You have to install CUDA in order to get Nvidia´s latest (08.06.12 drivers) to work with an Ageia PhysX card???(or at least I have to - works great with the latest Ageia drivers)

well if they say it works and it doesnt, contact them.

The latest drivers do support Agiea PPU cards. I've installed them with both the BFG and ASUS cards without problem.

Don't assume that just because something happens to you, that is the general standard.

....and yes you may be right....try run a 3DMark Vantage bench with a PPU card with the
latest Nvidia drivers for PhysX (but then again...you are also running with a Nvidia GPU..so maybe thats the reason why it works for you?)

I said "or at least I have to..."

Mussels - I have contacted Nvidia´s support - for roughly 15 days ago.. have´nt heard from them....

Vantage runs fine with them, and no this isn't on any one of my machines, I don't own a PPU. Several of my friends do, one has an nVidia card(s) and the other has ATi, both work perfectly fine.

So let me see if I can get this right (not particularily upto speed with PhysicsX, although I have GRAW2), if I download and use the new drivers, coupled with my G92 GTS I can get PhyX outta GRAW?

If thats the case, would I need to un-install the Ageia software that auto installs with the game?

as long as you have the (modded) physx supporting beta drivers, yes. otheriwse you gotta wait for these to be released.

You'd need the updated physx client off the NV site too, to enable it.

even tho i have a 'supported' G92 card on the beta drivers, i cant enable physx so i guess its not for everyone.

Yes, you would get PhysX with GRAW.

You shouldn't need to uninstall the Ageia software that comes with the game, this driver will just update it. However, sometimes, if you already have the Ageia software installed, you need to copy some files over to the game directory to overwrite the ageia stuff and force the game to use the new driver.

Heh, didn't figure you to be a 'price point' man Tatty. You know the 4870 can't handle texture loads like the 280 can.

Buy one bud, it's worth it. GT300 could be six months away.

God forbid we need to buy ANOTHER power supply. Anyone want to take bets on the amp draw 60 for a single card? hehe

sounds good to me ,ill be waiting for these new drivers as i really coudlnt be bothered messing about with modded drivers.

something to cheer about at last after all the recent excitement over ATI's new stuff.

No these days it's more "what I need", I am going to upgrade to a 24 inch monitor so need something that will play all my games smoothly at that res.....TBH the 4870 will probably fit the bill, I was considering two GTX260's.......I have given up the days of trying to stay in the top 3 or 4 in every bench! It gets boring after a couple of years, maybe after a few months away from benching I will get renewed energy :o

You may not need to modify any drivers depending on your hardware.

I have an eVGA 8800GT 512MB SC G92 card which was not supported in the initial run (modifide inf was needed). After installing the beta 177.66 drivers and the nVidia PhysX pack indeed PhysX was active. I did not have to modify any drivers like what is necessary for the 177.39 and earlier drivers.

Basically it just worked which was an indication to me that nVidia was making advancements. I would also suspect that leaked beta drivers will increase the number of supported cards in the near future before the final qualifying drivers are released

Anyway Unreal Tournament 3 with new nVidia PhysX MOD pack (yes they released an updated version for UT3) works as expected on my system and I look forward to more titles in the near future.

I have a Quadro FX 3600M in my laptop, which is a G92M chip.
This new driver should also work for my laptop, right?
by Cold Storm (July 25th - 6:49 PM) - Reply
The drivers should work... I'd suggest throwing it to Pagalms or the GTX 260/280 teaser driver thread... I know there is a list somewhere for it. All you need is the modded .inf file. But, Driver 177.66 don't need the modded .inf... Just go to Guru3d and grab them and install.

Why? it's NVidia saying it, would anyone really expect it to include ATi GPU's?

I can only speak for myself, when I origionally installed the game well before these drivers became available, I installed the Ageia drivers, since installing the new NVidia Px drivers it has worked fine, I didnt un-install Ageia...... so probably yes!
