HIS is counted amongst the leading ATI add in board partners. They already have a vast lineup of products based on the Radeon HD 4800. Like every other board partner, HIS sells reference design design cards, as well as, its own IceQ4 series Radeon HD 4850 cards. HIS decided to make a simplistic design, this time around, with the Radeon HD 4850 "Fan", that's what it's called.

The card uses a blue PCB which looks similar to the reference PCB. The card has a circular GPU cooler with aluminum fins projecting radially. The fan at its center lights up blue, during operation. Memory chips can be seen to be cooled passively. Memory amounts to 512 MB. The VRM area gets some cooling however. The card ships with reference ATI speeds of 625/1998 MHz (core/memory). The Radeon HD 4850 Fan should reach stores soon.

Looks like OEM's are starting to put cheap fans on the stock PCB's to get rid of them for their customs!

thats pretty much the basic standard non stock cooling a thousand other company use similar if not the same fan, if its cheap that will be its deciding factor

Now, don't get me wrong -- the name's cheap, but the fan probably cools a lot better than the "stock" 4850 one.

Those are good frequencies, with a simple fan like that how cheap will it be compared to the typical HD 4850?

Same as my 8800GT Super+

Funnily enough, it cools better than the stock 8800GT cooler, so maybe this HIS model will be better as well.

Make that three: 512M (ref speeds), 512M Turbo, 1G (ref speeds).

well it seems its launched to be a mass production board, sort of like the Palit Card. It be a good upgrade from that 3650 you have.

Hey, if it's cheap enough, I'll buy! I'd pickup the Sapphire 4850 on NewEgg ($159 - $20MIR), but I'd prefer not own a video card with wings =D

Surprised they went with the reference PCB though - You'd think they could cut costs with a custom design like the aforementioned...

Im glad im not the only one that thinks its ugly. They should go back to their real IceQ coolers that look good and are worth a crap.
