SUPoX follows other tier-one manufacturers such as ASUS, MSI and Gigabyte, with its motherboard based on the Intel "Tylersburg" X58 chipset. The motherboard supports the upcoming Intel Core i7 series processors, with its LGA-1366 socket. Perhaps it sticks to older memory specifications from Intel, that stated the i7 processors to support DDR3-1066 memory standard. It features three long PCI-Express x16 slots. The two red ones do x16, x16 when two video cards are connected. When all three slots are populated, the PCI-Express lanes arrange as x16 (red), x8 (red 2), x8 (yellow).

Optionally, the package includes Q-Fi wireless network controller. The six SATA II ports routed to the ICH10R southbridge provide RAID functions. Additional controllers handle E-SATA and two internal ports, and the E-IDE port. As with most X58 motherboards, it features six DDR3 DIMM slots for tri-channel memory. There's no word out on its pricing and availability yet.

I guess we have someone to take Abit's place.

Google tells me Supox employs the people that worked at the late Epox.

Dunno about the colour scheme (red/yellow expansion slots in particular)... ram slots look good tho. Were epox any good? I cant really remember...

Spoiled by C2D eh?

It is too bad you missed out on the glory days of AMD overclocking then. Besides the CMOS issue that plagued all nForce2 boards, the Epox was beast at overclocking. The 8RDA was a very nice board... To buy Intel at that time was a joke, funny how things spin.

I feel like an oldie, because I know the brand, and do not give a rats-rear about color schemes.

But I cannot wait to quicken my life... maybe we have to suck on the heatsink or heatpipes for poisons or something?

If they are priced right, then we could see the new Abit/Epox for sure.

Something was probably lost in translation. "Quick your Life" was probably intended to be something like "Speed Up Your Life". Captain obvious saves the day again ;)

Some ppl don't need their lives any faster than they are now. Especially me. Other than that, I think that plate or whatever it is will screw around with the cooling on both bridges. You can never have enough fins when dealing with the SB & NB and then they just go and cut some of them out for some goofy graphics...

Well I didnt quite miss out on AMD overclocking, used/oc'd athlon 64s but not XPs... i remember I overclocked my 3000+ venice to 2.7ghz I was very proud!
Back on topic, Im guessing these will be just about the cheapest x58 motherboards around, by the looks of them... anyone else want to make a guess at the price?

Epox was rebranded by new investors and named as Supox (guess 4 letter name was unlucky so they went with lucky 5:D).

Hmm I saw on Abit UK's website they are moving to another building. Does that mean they are still continuing business or they evolve into something else?

I don't Abit to go away:cry:

Does anyone know if there will be a "P-55" chipset?

Back when I used to work in the industry I built a lot of systems with Epox boards. I really liked them back in the day, and was sad when they pulled the plug. I'm very interested to see if they can re-capture their old glory under a new name. Nice to see them back in the game.

Epox made some nice boards back in the day, but they started slipping just before they went under. Their AM2 efforts were lackluster at best. Still better than ECS tho. lol.

I did some research. It looks like Supox makes some nice p45 boards, though I can't find them in the states at all.

Has there been anymore news of Abits Demise?

Epox was good.. solid build for less the price. I had an epox 945GLI.. even has an option for a 'multicard' setup. still is alive on my friend's rig.
