Thermalright Ultra 120 Full-Copper On Sale this Month

Thermalright Ultra 120 has been one of the most successful high-performance air coolers. The company planned to release a pure-copper version of this cooler. The cooler will indeed hit shelves later this month, but only limited quantities would make it. The company plans to make only 2000 units of these, dismissing earlier reports of 3000. Its price could range between US $100~110. A full list of features has been issued.

Use high quality copper material for consistent heat absorption and transfer.

Utilizes six high quality 6mm heatpipes, strategically positioned to pick up the heat from the CPU.

Proprietary bent winglet design to minimize airflow resistance.

Heat pipes soldered to base (nickel plated) and fins for optimum heat transfer.

Stack of 52 pieces of copper fins, the most over any other heatsinks in the market. Can be covered entirely by a 120mm fan to absorb all in-coming air flow.

Vast compatibility list for multiple multi-core CPUs and platforms.

Includes both bolt-thru-board retention mechanisms for Intel 775 and AMD AM2 (backplate included for both platforms).

Includes two sets of fan wire clips for a duo-120mm fan installation (fans not included).

Includes a new thermal paste called Chill Factor 2 for even better conductivity.

The cooler supports all current sockets such as Intel LGA-775 and AMD AM2/AM2+. There are indications of optional LGA-1366 support.

And I thought my Tuniq Tower was a heavy weight at 952g w/fan! This this cooler is nearly twice as heavy without fans! Looks good though.

Aluminum is good enough for me, has close to the same conductivity as copper... at alot cheaper. Copper does look cool, but $100?!!?

The metal itself has a lot of value. Even if it won't function as intended a few years down the road, you could still sell it as scrap copper to a metal recycling firm and get some cash for it.

Holy crap, the regular TRUE only weighs 790g. So this is over 1100g of extra copper...and I thought the regular TRUE was heavy. I know the big issue here is looks, but for a more practical design, I would have prefered a mix of aluminum and copper fins actually. To get a little more added benefit of the copper fins, while still keeping it at an acceptable weight.

Some people will never go water because they don't like the idea of it so close to their computer. Personally i don't think i would ever buy this thing but i'm certain theres people out there that would.

For the BLING, because god only knows its not going to be any better than your average $40-$50 air cooler in all reality... At least not to any extent that matters.

I didn't say water, I said "liquid or something". I won't go with a normal lc loop because I don't want to bother with setting it up and maintaining it. However, for ~$100, I got an all-in-one (pre-plumbed, etc.) liquid/tec cpu cooler just recently.

No... I'm realistic, what do you expect over another good cooler with a 120mm fan... Let's be honest here, my 92mm on my AC, with a 120mm behind it stays ice cold to the touch, it literally cannot move the heat fast enough to get rid of it any faster... So that one with 2 120s, would be pretty much a waste, it will move heat slightly faster, but honestly what are you going to drop from a pretty decent air cooler 1 maybe 2c in certain spots... Far from worth $100, and not enough to make any difference, you're not going to pull any more overclock off that.

better than what I get with my TRUEBLACK and under high voltage with a quad nothing but water can touch it.
