Thermalright Ultra 120 has been one of the most successful high-performance air coolers. The company planned to release a pure-copper version of this cooler. The cooler will indeed hit shelves later this month, but only limited quantities would make it. The company plans to make only 2000 units of these, dismissing earlier reports of 3000. Its price could range between US $100~110. A full list of features has been issued.

- Use high quality copper material for consistent heat absorption and transfer.
- Utilizes six high quality 6mm heatpipes, strategically positioned to pick up the heat from the CPU.
- Proprietary bent winglet design to minimize airflow resistance.
- Heat pipes soldered to base (nickel plated) and fins for optimum heat transfer.
- Stack of 52 pieces of copper fins, the most over any other heatsinks in the market. Can be covered entirely by a 120mm fan to absorb all in-coming air flow.
- Vast compatibility list for multiple multi-core CPUs and platforms.
- Includes both bolt-thru-board retention mechanisms for Intel 775 and AMD AM2 (backplate included for both platforms).
- Includes two sets of fan wire clips for a duo-120mm fan installation (fans not included).
- Includes a new thermal paste called Chill Factor 2 for even better conductivity.
- Dimensions: L133 x W156 x H38 mm
- Weight: 1900 g
- Recommended Fan (120×25mm)

what? are you crazy.
Dude for that price, you can get a coolit eliminator which will undoubtedly perform better. From what I've seen, I think the eliminator is probably the best cpu cooler you can get for ~$100.
by: theJesusyes be we are talking a regular air cooler and a coolit eliminator is not a air cooler.

man, nice!
by: trt740right, but does it really make a difference? my point is that the price for this particular air cooler is unjustified. the excuse that it's easy to setup doesn't really apply since the eliminator is all-in-one and pre-plumbed/sealed so it's just as easy and maintenance free.

coppppppppppppppppper=coooooooooooooooler
by: trt740Better sure, but not to any point that matters is my only point..
better than what I get with my TRUEBLACK and under high voltage with a quad nothing but water can touch it.
It's like sure technically 4-4-4-12 ram timings is "better" but are you going to "see" the difference over 5-5-5-15? Highly doubtful except in benchmarks...
by: niko084there is also buying something for it's quality and then performance.

by: trt740Not saying anything against its quality, just its price, and you know there is a pretty heavy premium on it because of the limited production.

I know copper needs more airflow then aluminum to cool right,, it would still be nice to have, if someone wants to buy it for me.
You guys are talking like this will actually cost you just $100... (yes I said "just"). If they really are making only 2000 of these I'm sure there's going to be a hefty price premium on one of these...
Seems "cool" though.

umm, I thought paying $100 already was the price premium.

I think it's $100 MSRP... no doubt retailers and/or private resellers are going to jack up the price on this.
k, so is there no way to order directly from thermalright?
Unless they change the mounting system to stop that easy spin the TRUE has, I don't see this performing better than the other TRUE's.
by: trt740Can't say that I have.
have ever owned one of these?
by: ElAguilathere is nothing wrong with how the true performs weather it turns or not.

That isn't quite true. I did the washer mod and my temps went down another 5C which is a significant drop when you are pushing your oc's to the limits.
by: ElAguilai did that mod too, along with lapping and removing the metal cover off my motherboard :)

by: ElAguilaI didn't add washers and I push the envelope all the time with zero trouble and since Thermalright says the TRUE is not flat on purpose, because it is designed that way as apart of the mount mech mines not lapped. I get great temps. There are several reviews where the TRUE was lapped and it made zero difference.

As far as lapping it depends on the bottom of the sink. For this copper version, I wonder if it is going to be exactly like the current version or if it will be a core contact. Bottom line for me is to wait for results and see if they justify the price over my current TRUE setup.
