It appears that Thermalright is getting ready for the upcoming Core i7 series processors and their new LGA 1366 socket. The company is going to unveil a new revision of its famous Ultra 120 eXtreme heat-pipe cooler. The third party cooler will actually be nothing more then the standard Thermalright Ultra eXtreme with a different mounting kit. Thermalright is only going to change the backplate and the bolt-through kit to fit the new socket. Our collegues from MADSHRIMPS have a test sample of the new cooler. From the pictures we can tell that Thermalright is also planning on shipping the Ultra 120 eXtreme with their own 120mm fan and a new mounting mechanism for it. Specs of the fan are unavailable, though.

Well, the new fan is news actually. Probably TR will sell the "new" cooler for 100E just to prove to us that their products are better because they are more expensive...

First LGA 1366 after market cooler I've seen, seems news worthy to me. So what that it's still TRUE, atleast everyone knows it performs great. Surely they'll be selling LGA1366 Bolt-Thru-Kit seperate as well once the cooler is out for every TRUE owner out there.

TRUE is still one of the most popular coolers, and the all copper version made news.
Even if its just a bracket, its still news - this lets TRUE owners such as myself go nehalem with less hassle, as TR sell these bolt on kits seperately a lot of the time.

I thought the new cpu's had a different size/shape surface area? I would assume they released a version that actually does have a different base to match the new cpu's. Or I could be wrong, cuz I'm sure that would make it difficult for backward compatibility. :ohwell:

Yeah I see this as being very news worthy. The ThermalRight Ultra 120 eXtreme isn't cheap and I'm sure existing users are ecstatic that it is serviceable with the new LGA1366. Also those interested in buying the existing version of the ThermalRight Ultra 120 eXtreme need not worry about buying one now.
Now while I don't currently own a ThermalRight Ultra 120 eXtreme I always wanted to get one and nothing is stopping me from doing so at this late date.
I'll go one further and say that the new mounting bracket for the ThermalRight Ultra 120 eXtreme is more then likely directly applicable to similar ThermalRight coolers with like mounting systems. In other words I could probably use the new mounting bracket on my ThermalRight HR-01 or Ultra 90A.

Well newegg is a western store maybe thats why.. PC shops in the east has plenty of thermalright stuff being sold... along with lian-lis, inno3d etc.
