Palit is ready with what appears to be, a monstrous graphics card based on the ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 (R700) design with 2 GB of GDDR5 memory, called the Palit Revolution R700 Deluxe. What makes it monstrous apparently is its width that spans across three expansion slots. Under the shroud of the cooler is an elaborate cooling system designed by Palit itself.
The cooler comprises of a large heat radiator, through which several heat-pipes conduct heat from contact blocks for the GPUs, memory, and the PCI-Express bridge chip, with seperate cooling blocks for the VRM area. Two fans of identical sizes blow air on the two thermal zones for the card: GPU and power circuitry. The card boasts overclocking features and company marketed overclocking potential highest for any R700 design so far, while shipping with reference clock speeds of 750/3800 MHz (core/memory). The card is fueled by the usual 6+2 pin and 6 pin power connectors, which are right-angled for accessibility.

On the outputs front, there are dual-link DVI-D and D-Sub connectors, apart from a DisplayPort and 7.1 channel audio routed HDMI port. by: CyberDruidMy 9800GTX+ offers HDMI Audio by having an audio input in the side of the card under a rubber cap, even comes with the cable needed to make it work and DVI-to-HDMI adapter ;) :rockout:
Again just my opinion but oneof the features I find most valuable about the HD cards is they play in HD :D
The sound comes through the HDMI ...unlike Nvidia cards...where you you have to set up something (usually cumbersome) to get the sound to your TV and then it's still not HDCP...
The HD ATI cards offer a single cable solution for running a modern LCD TV. I'm driving my 52" Sammie with a single cable and get decent sound even for music from the PC.
That card is made for modding, remove the plastic cover and cheap fans, strap on 2x 80mm high CFM fans then volt mod the GPU/MEM for some serious performance bump, enthusiast performance card of the year we have a winner...
I thought Dave said he was going to give every TPU member, with 4+ years on TPU, a new Graphics Card??:D

Even with needing to put memory on the back, would it be that much different from the 3870X2's?
I meant 2Gb, not GB. 2 Gb = 256 MB. An R700 PCB takes 16 connections, so 256 x 16 = 4096 MB.
In that PowerColor card, every two 1Gb chips share a connection. There's no room left on an already overcrowded R700 PCB, for two 1Gb chips to share a connection.

Also that, it's not just two boards with a GPU and its memory each, the GPUs aren't just connected to the bridge chip and to eachother using the crossfire connection, but also the extra bit of wiring Sideport brings in. NVIDIA made it look very easy, with the NF200 suppying a PCI-E connection, and the SLI connection.
Dual PCB would completely kill the value factor relative to nVidia's offering.

I still have use of those other slots - a dual slot GPU is a much space as I'm going to give to one.

Nice also to see Palit stepping up to the ATI line as well. I'm so tempted right now to scalp my two 4870s and two 3870s for two of these beasts . . . :p

This IS my next card. I don't care if it takes up four slots, it would be insanity to run two in crossfire.
