Microsoft has released its latest update to the DirectX end-user runtime. The update patches DirectX installations on all current Microsoft PC, workstation and server operating systems. Microsoft releases updates to the DirectX end-user runtime on a bi-monthly basis, with security, performance enhancements and features usually forming the update. The latest update or the entire redistributable (for offline installations) can be downloaded from Microsoft here.

What is the benefit of installing these ?
DO they ever improve performance ?
DO they ever improve performance ?
If they make updates for directx once every 3 months, that means it has some bugs. I think most game devs must submit reports to M$ to fix something that is not their fault.
Here is a link to the complete Nov. 08 package: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=886ACB56-C91A-4A8E-8BB8-9F20F1244A8E&displaylang=en
Like the complete package, always keep latest 2 just in case I need them again. Seemed to update punch of stuff and doesn't require reboot like 99% of software updates :)
Lol I get a failed to connect to the server error... or something along those lines.
updating now, thanks.
by: kid41212003Thats why Vista users with DX10 can still play DX9 games right??:roll:
Even If you have DX10, you still need to update DX9. DX10 does not included DX9.
I was gonna say it wont let me connect and install. Nice to know we all have this problem and its being worked on.
About time Microsoft fixes it. A few days a go it came out but didn't want to update online.
The redist pack is there now.
by: wolf2009Driver Compatibility has alot to do with these APIs aswell, i usually install these eachtime they come out to actually prevent any driver problems etc. Numerous Optimizations aswell.

by: eidairaman1Yeah I used that link.
that is the link, i had no problem getting the file
I normally just use the dxwebsetup one. That way I don't have to download all the files even though I've got them already.
But in any case, it worked. :)
websetup tends to be faulty.
by: PP MguireIts the previous version with an update. Its been building up for years. DirectX10 was meant to be different.
A whopping 80meg but im going to see if this actualy does anything (Getting the redist cause i too keep them)
thanks for the link.... worked fine for me
Bear with me guys, this is a stupid question (it would seem it's my turn) - but, hey , I'll learn.
I downloaded the redist pack, how do I go about updating dx 9 and 10? I have vista 64 bit, and should (wild guess) choose "Nov2008_d3dx9_40_x86" and "Nov2008_d3dx10_40_x86" - right?
However, extracting those - there's no installer? Yeah I know, my turn, but I'd be grateful for an answer (already did the google) =P
Thanks.

its an all in one installer, it updates both simultaneously. those files you're looking at, are the wrong ones.
Hey, cheers - I can't believe I missed that one among all the other .rar files - but sure, one of those nights. or atleast it was :)
