Phenom II Launch Off-Course, Say Sources

Last week, AMD stunned the computer enthusiast community by displaying the overclocking headroom the upcoming Phenom II processors could offer. Sources among channel vendors then leaked it to the press, that at least two models under the Phenom II banner await a January 8~10 launch schedule across various markets. Sources tell OC Workbench that they are very skeptical about its availability as early as in January. The sources said that they expect mass-availability of the processors only by March, or even as late as June 2009, in time for next year's Computex event.

that's just retarded on their part if this comes true, AMD need to keep the ball rolling that ATI started, they're going to shoot themselve in the foot if they have a delayed/failed launch again :slap:

Great. :( And how many chips will intel sell during this 6 month period.

6 months in a lifetime in h/ware world. AMD did this last time as well, and also did this with the 2900XT from memory.

I wonder where ocw got this info.

If this happens then it was beyond AMD's control.

We will see what we will see. I don't put much stock in this hearsay,.....yet. January isnt that far off though so we will know soon enough.

The last time AMD (ATI) had a delayed video card launch they made up for it the next time around with a killer card, in quantity with reasonable low prices! AMD is due FTW.

Man, that's gonna be a huge killer for AMD if this is true. AMD needs something that can compete now, not 4-6 months from now. I was really looking forward to Phenom II but if it gets delayed until March then I might go in the direction of Intel.

Still early for this kind of stuff. Anythings possible. They will probably have limited supply to start with than have more later.

I wouldnt hold water for this but I wouldnt call it a complete lie. Personally for them to have working 45nm parts so soon when they hit 65nm not too long ago (relatively speaking) is amazing itself.
