Zalman VF2000 LED in Pretty Pixels
First spotted at the recent CES 2009 event, the Zalman VF2000 LED is incing towards launch. The Korean cooling specialist added a smart bit of innovation to this GPU cooler: it can also be used to cool a CPU. The VF2000 LED is a simplistic looking GPU cooler that is compatible with most GPUs such as the NVIDIA G9x and ATI RV700 series. Designed primarily for graphics cards, the VF2000 LED maintains a short profile. It measures 126x110x45 mm and weighs 290 g. Its construction is fairly simple, consisting of a contact block from which four heatpipes emerge, conveying heat to a dense aluminum fin array. The 90mm PWM-controlled, blue LED-lit fan is embedded into a circular cavity atop the array.
The provision of additional retention modules makes this cooler compatible with the Intel LGA-775 and AMD AM2/AM2+/AM3 sockets. However, the catch is that this cooler is recommended only for CPUs with rated TDPs below 110W, and hence can't be used for overclocking adventures on air-cooling, however, its slim construction sets it up as an ideal cooler for low-profile PCs. mostly copper, allum, and all black.
I still remember taking old Athlon heatsinks and zip-tieing them to graphics cards. I had a 9700Pro like that.
Anyone have any reviews of this thing in action, because im beginning to wonder if this product is even a valid one. I already know of too many great cpu / gpu coolers that are way more space efficient, possibly even cheaper. Just need some benchmarks to run a temp comparison.
I favor Intel , for my reasons ;)
But i favor also this 90mm fan , plus the correct design of this cooler .
Its true what we all wonder if VF900 or GV1000 or VF 2000 is better .
I have on wish list the GV 1K , because had large body , and i was plan to mod it,
and replace the fan with 90mm .
What Zalman did here , was a nice trick , removed metal and add a larger fan to compensate the loss .
Thats smart , the VF 2K it will cost LESS .
I strongly believe , that it will be 3-4C cooler than the GV 1000, on a HD3850 with lower noise .
OR , the same performance offered by the VF 900 to HD3850 , will offered by the VF 2K,
to the hotter cards.
Thats a good scenario , some tests will just prove that i am right , on my theory . ;)

I dont like the idea it takes 2 PCI slots for that block...
