Crytek CryENGINE 3 to be On Display at This Year's GDC Expo

Crytek has announced that CryENGINE 3 is ready and will be on display from March 25th to March 27th at this year's Game Developers Conference or GDC Expo in San Francisco. In contrast to the previous engine, CryENGINE 3 will support all major upcoming platforms as well as current platforms including the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, MMO, and PC's DX9/DX10. Carl Jones, director of business development, refused to give more information. He was very brief in his statement:
CryENGINE 3 is a revolutionary change from our previous PC-only engines - and we're applying a similar revolution to the service we provide to developers using the software to create extraordinary games. CryENGINE 3 will set the benchmark for complete game engine solutions in performance, and services to game engine licensees and their players. We've been preparing a long time for CryENGINE on consoles and we're confident that Crytek will again amaze developers at GDC.
Be prepared for additional info at the end of the month.

No but it makes more people play games on pc's and to play games on pc's you do need a gpu so there is some potential in sales.

Yes they do. I buy my new hardware because I want to play these awesome games like Left 4 Dead, Call of Duty 4, Oblivion etc. at higher resolutions and with more filters. I specifically upgraded my 7600GT to a HD 3850 to play newer games with better settings and better frames. I have a HD 4870 1g coming my way now because I have a 1920x1080 screen and my 4830's are kinda struggling with a few games.

An 8800gtx will play any console port, with highest settings on that monitor.and its3 years old!
So why should i look forward to playing crysis 3 when it will be dumbed down for the wii.
I want stunning graphics not little cartoon games, even with great cartoon gameplay.
the only time to get new gpus is when they come out with new consoles. There will NEVER be a game on the current consoles that My 8800gtx cant handle.EVER!

That much is obvious. Although your 8800GTX is outdated now and some of us prefer to get newer versions because they perform better while using less power.

LumpyUm.. game play dosent sell gpus.
striaght out i can think of 2 examples to disprove that.

2004 - my mate buys a X800 because HL2 is landing and it was every where that it played best on ATi hardware, no longer true really.

2007 - another mate buys a 7600GT AGP to play bioshock with SM3 on, thats the only reason for the buy.

not to mention the countless times ive heard ppl talk about 8800GTX SLi OR BEEFIER machines being built to take down crysis.

games sure do sell GPU's.

I think he meant gameplay alone.... I understand where it could have been misunderstood though.

I find Crytek's engine to be one of the worst coded engines currently available.
The thing should be scrapped and the devs should start from the ground up with their current knowledge base.
Unless they are able to triple performance with current technology, this will probably cause the death of the company.

Then they will always be known as CRYtek

Its not that its badly coded its that those level of graphics require powerful cards.

CastielCryengine 3 Demo with new Crysis Game bits.
Video
The video quality is bad, but that looks more like Cryengine 1.5 then 3. There's the XB360 and PS3 logos in the beginning so I really hope that only represents the console port of the engine.

If this is real then what I said is true. The graphics will only look as good as the weakest system it will be released for.

I dont think it looks bad just not as good as we've seen. It's not an improvement. It's just a way to sell more games.

Not big news for pc geeks :/
