Corsair Readies New HX-series PSU

Memory specialist turned PSU specialist Corsair, has a new PSU up its sleeves. The Corsair HX750W modular PSU is an attempt by the company to fill the gap between the HX620W and the high-end HX1000W, in its HX series, a large one to begin with. There is a definite need for such a PSU since it ups the count of PCI-Express power cables from the PSU, over the relatively paltry two that HX620W offers. Cable modularity is enhanced with the flat-cables the company has been using. With the "750W" marking, we are to assume that is the continuous power rating, as with every other Corsair PSU. The model may fall in league with other ones by the manufacturer to come with a 5-year warranty. It is also indicated that the PSU will come with an 80 Plus efficiency rating. This PSU comes after the company's recent launch of the HX450W.

Are the Channelwell ones ok though? I trust the seasonic models, they review really well, but the cwt ones not as much.

yeah the cwt models appear to be just as good as the rest. unfortunately the 750TX which is the one i got, has been having more issues than normal. but i dunno. mine makes a buzzing sound, which the corsair guy said isn't normal, but i'm not gonna return it or anything because it is running beautifully.

I don't think Seasonic is manufacturing for Corsair anymore, they did however provide the recent Corsair 400CX units I say provide and not manufacture because on JG forums they mention Antec Earthwatts 380 model...

pretty much all of the corsairs have single rail.

yeah they all are except for the Corsair 1000HX I think because it's 2x 500 Watt units on 1 PCB.

If I didn't already have a solid 700w I probably would've grabbed this. One thing I hate about Corsair's modular lineup, is the price. The 620w costs more than the non-modular 850w..

I really liked the Seasonic ones, i believe my 650 is Seasonic made. I like Seasonics M2 offerings as well, they are a little higher priced and dont offer Wattage I would like (thinking 550 is the tops??). Id definitely snag up this HX750 (they should offer an 800 or 850 as well).

I have two Corsair PSU, the HX620 and TX850. Both run great and are really quiet (which is very nice). I wouldn't hesitate to pick up another Corsair PSU in the future. I did miss the modular cabling of the HX620 when I installed my TX850; trying to find a place for all the extra cables and making he case look neat was more difficult.

the TX series is the one with single rail. The 520 and 620 have 3 rails and the 1000 has 2.

Finally what took corsair so long to have someone make them a HX750, hopefully the HX750 will get reviewed at JG.. hoping for a performance rating of atleast 9.0

i'm pretty sure your wrong with the 520 and 620, i believe it was jonnyguru who found out that seasonic used a non-standard method which in the the end equated to being 1 rail.

here is a shot of my 620. EDIT: after further dissection the 3rd and 2nd rail groups of wires go to the same spot. So there is something rotten in Denmark here

the Corsair 1000HX is the only true dual rail, the other HX series models that have virtual rails your right jonnyguru discovered even though the rails are split there is no OCP circuit on each virtual rail only 1 OCP circuit that monitors all virtual rails collectively making it in essence a single rail design so if you use more wattage than the rail is rated for it won't trigger I think this is against ATX Form Factor specifications too. on the ULOD Corsair has a 1200HX Model listed for a couple months now thats why I asked when it was going to be released.

Man this PSU is nice, I wish it was out when I was looking at PSUs, modular and blue, plus I can't help but think I would have been better off with a 750w for future Crossfire. Oh well, maybe another time. Hope the price is good I might get one in the future, Corsair FTW! I like the flat cables too.
