Case, power and cooling specialist Antec just shrunk the Skeleton enthusiast-grade bench chassis, just about enough to fit the Mini-ITX motherboard form factor, which is what makes the Mini Skeleton 90 surprising. The chassis retains the "picnic-basket" bench design the Skeleton has, measuring 210 (W) × 230 (D) × 190 (H) mm, and tipping the scales at around 2.5 kg.
A two-stage drawer holds the motherboard on the top stage which is cooled by a large LED-lit 150 mm fan, and the lower stage holding the disk drives and power supply. The chassis holds one 5.25-inch drive using a quick-release drive bay. There is one quick-release and two fixed 2.5-inch (yes, 2.5-inch) drive bays. Apart from the 150 mm fan on top, there is a 70 mm fan to cool the lower stage. Standard front-panel headers such as USB and audio are also present. The case is backed by a 3-year company warranty. Its price in the US is yet to be known.

Shame this looks as bad as the original. No support for proper aftermarket HSF's? You might aswell save the money and just use your mobo box.
lol, a smaller version of a case with so many probs is still "Fail" Come on Antec....:shadedshu
Antec should stick with the P series of cases and call it a day, the 900 / 1200 series isnt even that good when you look at it.
wtf?, come on, who is going to make some benchies with a mini atx??? . Wat a waste of cheap plastic. I could make one with a supermarket basket...
actually none of their cases are that good...(unless you want quiet) I am really surprised how popular the 900 was..
They do make very solid cases, and their quality is good but their designers/engineers are "Lost in Space"
everyone knows for mini iTX Legos rule:rockout:

It looks like a Pizza oven with way too much wires.
haha MRCL, yeah it does look like that or one of those GTExpress 102s or whatever that chick is peddling. Id get one just for the novelty of it and give it to one of my nieces. Dust city there though.
Hold on a second......
First of all....the original Skeleton is´nt that bad...in fact it´s the best case, in terms of
proper airflow, I ever owned....
http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=80188&highlight=Skeleton+build
The only prob is the size of the aftermarket HSF´s.....not all will fit - thats correct
But I´ll admit that a mini skeleton is a bit far out....who the hell will buy this....Mickey Mouse?:wtf:

The silly top fan is a poor idea, should have mounted a pair of fans blowing from front to back.
(PS below is a good idea...)

"enthusiast-grade bench chassis"???
i can sort of see the point there making, the airflow would be good but....
how is this an enthusiast chassis?
no watercooling support!
no way of fitting a dice pot!
your better off using a removable motherboard tray! and aiming a desk fan at it!

by: VulkanBrosLooking at yours, the big one is a pretty cool idea.

its sad that it would probably be best served with watercooling inside instead tho
by: MKmodsNot a bad idea at all....it keeps the north & south bridges cool and allso the memory and the other components on the mobo

(PS below is a good idea... I wonder who else does that:laugh)
It is a dust magnet....yes....but it is allso easy to blow clean with an airbrush or mini-compressor ;)
lol, I mentioned it to Antec(when I saw the first one) and they said they would look into it...LOL, apparently they didnt look hard enough..
The thing with cooling is efficiency.. EZ in EZ out, the Antec design causes a lot of conflicts of airflow.

by: MKmodsYou got me there....I had to move the GPU, who by the way now is a GTX285, to the out´er PCIExpress port because of the air-conflict from the top-blower...hmm...could be god for a passively cooled GPU....

To me it looks like no support for a graphics card even. Surely full height won't fit there
edit: aaah, mini-ITX, well that explains. Though it was for microATX.
:shadedshu
this is for atom mobo's , look nice
by: MKmodsMaybe the 900 was so popular because it was at the time the only case which had so much airflow?...

I helped do a mod of one back in the day(basically I made a new face and put 2 of those huge fans in the front) but it was really hard to work with. I like the CM Centurion 5 a lot better (especially for 1/2 the price)
That big fan barely moved any air..

Well at least its something different instead of the usual rectangular box cases with the same cases we usually get. I say lets see more inovation like this and yeah its limited to what you can do with it but give Antec some credit different designs instead of the bog standard cases.

good point
I'll stick to my 5 cent plank of wood thank you. Never cared for the Skeleton one bit.
by: MKmodsi respect you as a modder, but this is one of your less respectable things that you've said lol. Go and buy yourself a 200mm fan and then you'll see how much air they move.

The skeleton's concept is good, but design is ultimately extremely flawed. They could do away with the elaborate curve, which is just pure form over function. Instead of a stupid fixed frame which serves no purpose, but to look nice, and is in between a duct, and open space in terms of usage, they should just make a simple rack that can be adjusted, still keeping the "heat rises" concept, but allowing for MUCH more in terms of expansion.
The slide out tray is another point of critique, its just a stupid fucking gimmick. If you're going to make your system that open, that it doesnt protect against anything, why add pointless mesh and stuff around it? Sigh.
Mkmods, ill draw something up for you to consider...... the skeleton done right :)

I bought 2 extra of those fans from Antec to do the 900 mod for a friend, they are more of a gimmick than functional.
kind of like the way marketing works.. if an 80mm fan is good than the 120 must be better. Well the 240mm fan must be twice as good.....:shadedshu
