Buffalo announced a new USB flash drive that pushes the limits of how small these drives can get, giving similarly sized flash-storage cards a challenge. The Buffalo RUF2-PS packs up to 16 GB of data in 18 (W) x 18 (H) x 8 (D) mm, and comes in variants of 2, 4, 8, and 16 GB. It is truly feather-weight at 3 g. The drive is so compact that the a couple of these could stay latched on to a notebook even when carrying it around. It uses a standard USB 2.0 interface. Its transfer rates or availability haven't surfaced.

I'd lose that, I'd have to have it connected constantly.
It has provision for a lanyard.
Yeah, I'd still probably lose it. I'd actually prefer just to have it connected to a Netbook and only remove it when absolutely necessary.
That looks kinda gay.
by: hatLOL! You mean lame right?

Well isnt that cute... I need something like that to keep dust away from my 6 front usb slots.
by: InnocentCriminalI lose my 2.4 inch USB stick all the time, I wouldn't even find that thing in the package its delivered in.

Nice. Now go make one with a powered eSATA connector!

by: InnocentCriminalNever assume anything. You make an "ASS" out of "U" and "ME" :toast:

Sorry, I meant - presume. ;)
Excellent breakthrough
by: TheMailMan78That'll depend on transfer speed... does anyone know if Class 4 fits the bill?

If it didn't have provisions for a lanyard, I'd probably lose it too. I keep a 8GB SDHC/usb adaptor on my keychan and love it. All told, it's about 1/4" longer than this.
That's bloody amazing.
I have nothing more to say.

I use my 20gb 1.8" hdd.i'd definately lose that.

This for the Mobo Sata ports would ROCK.
Every un used port filled up with an 16gb drive.

Looks fiddly to remove. Easy to forget/lose when visiting. Which will get lost first? The cap, or the stick? LOL
It'll be fiddly to remove, and you'll either lose it in your pocket or youll go to unplug it and it will pull the bar of soap trick and disappear.
by: Jizzleris that your response to any new technology?

"Nice. Now go make..."
haha
Can't let manufacturers rest :D
But to give them some props for their current product, quite a few workstation/server level boards are coming with onboard USB ports for Hypervisor storage and the like. Great for that particular situation, as this will no doubt fit into 1U rack cases.
With powered eSATA, the possibilities open up even more!

When it's time to remove this thing, do you need some pliers or a tweezer?
heh total awesomeness....
but I bet you I'll leave it on my schools PC and forget to take it home...
