EVGA today introduced the compact X58 SLI Micro motherboard (model number: 121-BL-E756-TR), supporting the Micro-ATX form factor. Don't be fooled by the small size, in performance figures this motherboard is a match for all standard ATX Intel X58 equipped motherboards, it supports all LGA1366 Core i7 processors to date, has six DDR3-1600+ memory slots, two PCI-Express x16 slots, a single PCI slot and one PCI-E x1 slot. In addition EVGA gives you full range of overclocking features including: EVGA VDroop Control, EVGA E-LEET support, enthusiast BIOS options and of course the chance to put a SLI or CrossFireX setup of video cards in a micro-ATX system. The board's build quality is also off the hook, 100% solid capacitors are used, and passive heatsink design is incorporated so the board is 100% silent. The EVGA X58 SLI Micro will be available very soon for around $200.

what cards do they even make for a 4x slot?
You could put an extra PCIe x16 card in there for tri-GPU if you were so inclined. Some boards have the x4 slot open ended for this, others you'll have to use a saw to modify it slightly.

In theory x16 cards should work in x1 slots too.. but it'd be even more cramped for bandwidth.

then there really is no point in having it i have seen some raid cards for them but a 4x slot will kill and current gpu

:)
Makes sense lol do forgive me for not back reading.

In anycase, say that a fat vc and one that does not need any cooler mods... that does pose a problem.. some of us like GTX200 stock cooler's monolithic facade :P. If they could just ditch the internal sound device, that would remove those audio jacks at the rear, which would pave way for a pci-1x slot on top.

interesting, ah!
if you buy a motherboard based only on looks, make sure you are not being photoshoped.
the same goes if you are going to get married with a girl you knew on internet but never in person.

The top photo looks retouched. Actually they both look retouched. The bottom is missing stuff on the PCB and the top is missing the print on some of the components.

what cards do they even make for a 4x slot?

no one has PS/2 mice ports anymore the last 5 boards i have bought have left that out. buy a new KVM switch it will have USB.

you could run the top card with a reverse cooler toss the xfi in the 1x slot and be done with it
Not if you are running twin dual-gpu cards.

How are you gonna get a reverse cooler on a dual-gpu card?

Well then that's not any better than my idea, and having to mod a case or something similar.

True, true. But I would be very sad if I couldn't fit two dual-slot video cards in my Antec Mini P180.
I have the Mini P180 too, and, like you, this is exactly what I was looking for!

Just thought I would throw that in there...
